Not to many tech sabby people here, don't except to much posts =.=
If you somehow do know what iam talking about then post your opinions.
My monitor only run on 1280x1024 and I mainly plays Starcraft 2 with some FPS.

The architecture of the GTX 570 seems to be better and runs more quiely/cooler. But people say Radeon hd 6970 runs a little faster, but it only seems to be on higher resolution, people also seem to had complaints of the noise.

Depends, if your CPU is AMD, go for the 6970 they will run together. Otherwise take the 570.

570 will save you the hassle with drivers and etc. At your resolution, you'd max out any game just fine, probably with AA and HBAO etc all enabled (thinking BF3 here).

6970 trades blows, is better in some apps and games than the 570 (especially for higher resolution textures), and may be cheaper + cooler to run. The last series of cards pretty much showed the 500's being louder and hotter than the AMD 6000's, but it all depends on your aftermarket cooler etc.

What one are you looking at in particular? I'd snag up a twin frozr or a direct CU which should be priced around the same. The twin frozrs from my past experience (mate has two 560 ti twin frozr II's that I set up for him) run very cool and quiet, and the DCU's are huge but very cool. Either way you're set to go.

Also you shouldn't assume there aren't many tech savvy people here. There are actually quite a few of us around who spend a lot of time on tech forums (toms hardware, guru3d, overclockers, anandtech, whirlpool etc) and know what goes on in the biz.

KK thx guys. Iam thinking which type of Gtx 570 iam getting. I first thought about Asus but it take 3 slots and Iam thinking about going SLI in the future. Iam not also into overclocking the GTX 570.
Iam now between the choice of Twin Frozr III GTX 570 and the EVGA Superclocked GTX 570, tell me what you guys think.

I would say 570 because I prefer Nvidia to AMD. It has also come out slightly higher here and there compared to the 6970.

Twin frozr, better cooler and still overclocked. Superclocked you can do yourself and probably a whole lot better on the frozr.

    I'd go for either

    or

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130687

The second, more expensive one, comes with twice as much VRAM as the other one. More than 1gb is good to have now with these newer games and shit. Not to mention they both only require 2 slots, unlike the Asus one. Asus is still a very solid brand, but EVGA is right there with it.

And as far as overclocking goes, just download MSI Afterburner or something similar and you can use that to match what the superclocked cards are clocked to. Also, if you have a good Sandy Bridge processor, you can set the PhysX to the CPU and take a load off the GPU and it will help keep temperatures down as well as increase the amount you can safely overclock, but increase load on your CPU. Depending on what you're doing, this can help or hurt overall performance.

Scary temperatures zones for desktops =
    90°c for CPU
    100°c for GPU

Go for the Twin Frozr III, it has a much better cooling solution than the EVGA. Either card will be solid, but you will most likely get better overclocks out of the MSI. I know you said you don't want to overclock but it really is as simple as downloading Afterburner and changing the speed (unless you want some extreme OCs, then you might have to mess with the voltage)

kk thx, Also kill dank, physx on the CPU is horrible, you'll get better speed if you put physx on the gpu.

I am completely aware. I was talking strictly in terms of overclocking. If you remove some of the load from the GPU, you will be able to clock it higher with less heat. It isn't a good idea if you're looking for performance though.

I would buy the 6970, you get more for your money. Only real minus with AMD is the drivers except that I would never choose Nvidia.

570, I have one and it's freaking amazing. Or as said above, wait for the 600 series that comes out in a couple of months. When it comes out, I'm just upgrading to 2 580s, because they will be dirt cheap in comparison to their price now.
