Snippet from a song I'm working on called "So Tired" - Tribute to Shawn_

Hey guys

I've been writing songs for a while, and this one I've been working on for a while. It's inspired by Shawn_, a user I met on this site who sadly took his life. It was made as a tribute to him firstly, and secondly as a song to express how I felt after being expelled from school in 2009.

This was done on my home microphone, a guitar hero microphone, and it has absolutely no effects on it. In the event that i do publish it to the public, it will be done in the studio, as I'm planning to record other ones there. I chose to sample this one because it has Sythe undertones, so I thought it would be fitting if you guys were the ones to judge it. I just wanted criticism on my lyrics, rapping style and rapping, since most of my friends tell me I'm good, I'm hoping Sythe would be more honest with me.

This is a Sythe only snippet, the whole song isn't shown here, just the first verse and the hook. It's unlisted, so only those with a link can view it, it can't be searched for on Youtube.

Btw I am Australian, I'm trying to rap in an American accent. Sorry if I failed.

I'm not really a huge rap fan, but I did find your song enjoyable. It was sloppy at times, but it came together and it was catchy. Care to share more?

 

I wrote the last 4 lines in about 5 minutes, recorded a first take, subtitled it for convenience, and uploaded.

Um, I'd prefer to wait until they're close to being released. The ones I have on my computer are made with the home mic, so it produces static here and there. But I will certainly show Sythe when I record them in the studio.

I too am not very much into this genre but good work Marrow. All I can suggest is to keep tweaking until it's absolutely perfect and flows flawlessly.

I'm into this idea. Despite the fact I never spoke to shawn_ on a personal level, just knowing that someone who used to be around me is now gone makes me want in on this.

It's a suicide awareness song. The next verse is about awareness, the first one was my experience.

BTW Ryan your one of the reasons I started rapping, so thanks for the influence.

 

Remade it, just to show people how it's meant to flow, etc. Wasn't focusing on the voice aspect of it.

 

Hey man, that's great to hear. I can't think of anything that has the same effect on someone as writing music, whether it's rap music or another genre. It's something that a lot of people are too embarrased to do and share and it's a shame people think like that.

I'll be getting back into it and I hope you keep it up. Btw, you're in Brisbane right? Or do I just make that up?

 

Nah Sydney, I've gotten like 10 songs ready to be recorded. Depending on how well my first song is taken to, depends on how many ill record.
