Why is Members list searching blocked?

I just tried looking through the members list and it said the feature is blocked. Why's this?

Seems to be working fine for me, I never use it though.

 

Strange, whenever I try looking through pages of members it says "Memberlist search disabled due to abuse".

 

Abuse... how often do you use it?

 

It showed up the very first time I tried to use it actually. Does this link work for you? It says the abuse thing for me.

 

It is banned for anyone not staff or donator because it is easily abused to take down the site.

 

I get the same "Memberlist search disabled due to abuse" error whenever I try looking through the list too.

 

Well maybe its something else then. I dunno.

 

I think it's disabled for everyone but staff.
