For a project I've been working on for a very long time.

It's basically the homepage for a gaming headquarters (tips, cheats, discussions, profiles... etc.).

    Opinions on the design?

    It's bland.

Also your drop shadow is wrong.

    It's only the login page...

Edit: What drop shadow is wrong?

Oh, never mind. On Primody. It changed because I had it set to global, I'll switch that now.

If you showed more than just a login page I could give you a more accurate opinion... For now it looks like something that has been done to death. Centered gray to dark gray lighting scheme and a little grit/texture. It needs to be more original.

I personally love it. It's simple and nice. The drop shadow is also nice.

What you can do is you could add something more as it looks just a bit empty.

I am not trying to sound like a dick, but from a design standpoint it isn't anything special right now.

Thanks for pointing out the drop shadow issue by the way. When I was doing a drop shadow for another part (that I later deleted), I had it set to -90, so it changed the global setting that the others were set to.

However, I just liked the designs like this, so I decided to go for it myself. I'll design some more pages after to post here and show you guys. I know it's a bit over done, but I'm quite fond of it.

It's supposed to look kind of empty. I mean, it's the login screen. I basically wanted it to look kind of private, like you have to login to see the content (although you really won't have to - as long as you know the URLs to the other pages).

Well, then it works out actually if that is your intent. It looks a lot like RSBuddy's design though which I liked. Almost identical :/

I think the username and password fields are just slightly too large, make them a little smaller in height and width. The logo can then be brought down some. You could also put a texture in the background, perhaps some rosetta type repeating pattern (also done to death but it works).

I like the simplicity of it, however the username and password boxes could been re-done.

Your comments are appreciated, and no, you don't sound like a dick. I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't want criticism. :p

I have never used RSBuddy, nor seen their website. >_<

There is already a texture in the background, it's grainy. Not sure what kind of rosetta type pattern you're talking about, mind posting a picture of it?

I'm off to school now, but I'll play around with the login boxes sizes and positions when I get back.

    How so?

    - Shadows aren't consistent, this gives the effect of a bullshit light source/loses realism.
    - Consistency with fonts, going from what looks like Trajan/Georgia to Arial doesn't work buddy (learn about fonts properly before combining serif/sans serif, and different types of these).
    - Arial = Not cool. Buy/Download Helvetica and use for the rest of your life.
    - Seriously, don't use Arial, it has just about as much professionalism as Jokerman or Impact, in terms of font.
    - The buttons can be far more web 2.0/3.0 -> pay more attention to detail. 2px borders can help a lot, shadows and lightsource needs to be taken into account. Think about textures also - you've used grain for the background so texture could work nicely.
    - Submit Information (the actual text) isn't centered vertically - don't center according to the top of capital letters, but the lowercase letters, it looks more pro.
    - Gap between the logo/name and the actual input fields seems awkwardly large, cut down by like 20px
    - 'Register an account' seems unpro. No shadow, no arrow, no symbol, no capitalisation - attention to detail, and making shit seem pro graphically is what separates pro sites from amateur sites. If you uploaded this in normal form, it would seem for the register an account thing that you coded in plain HTML because you don't know how to use css, or that you don't want to put the effort in. If you're leaving it as it is, at least make it a button, not just plain text. It also looks too bright, and takes away from the input fields - make it slightly duller/reduce the saturation and add lightness.
    - Shadows on the top logo/slogan thing are too small and too sharp, with the light source you've tried illustrate, imagine where it would be, and picture what the shadow would look like. It would be roughly 3px, distance of like 1px, and far lighter/softer (as the light isn't harsh).

    + Colour scheme seems alright.
    + Positioning/placement seems alright.
+ I'm guessing it's still WIP, so far it hasn't got any awful flaws.

^ Completely my opinion/experience/2 cents - don't take it to offence and take from it what you will.

My biggest suggestion right now is to make those text boxes more visible
Right now they just blend in to the background, make them bluer. or at least color the text blue
