Getting hacked?!?

I recently got hacked by some guy who's currently banned on sythe.

Before, he asked me my RSN and Bank pin and he said, "my friend can access RuneScape events database and can make you have done the easter event, and hence will get you an easter egg in your bank". He also said he doesn't need my account password or login email/username.

I gave him RSN and bank pin, yet knowing this is not gonna happen just like that, but I thought it won't be a risk at all.

Next day I tried logging in, and it said account is already logged in. Then I changed the password and tried logging in. Finally logged in and saw that all my bank items, not really worth much, like 10m worth maximum (since I've all my GP on some other account) in my inventory.

I reported the last logged in IP on sythe and he was the same guy I gave the RSN and bank pin to. I was like how the fuck is this possible??? He is now banned though for evading, but how can someone possibly do that.

Say, he had my bank pin, rsn and login name as well. How can he still hack me without knowing my password.

inb4usayrunvirusscan - I did so already, I've no keyloggers or virus on my PC.

Is there still a way of getting hacked by just that much?

 

Almost 99.9 procent sure that he cant get into jagex database. Maybye he recovered the acc?

 

Simple, he already had access to your account before he contact you - he was just looking for the bank PIN

 

Did you sell that account to anybody? or did you buy it from someone?
Seen as hes a Ban-evader it could be anyone you have bought/sold the account from.

 

It's my account, never sold or bought to/from anyone. He at most knew the user login, bank pin and rsn. Not password. And he can't recover an account with that info.

No? I was logged in. I had my password that he didn't know.

You gave him your RSN ( he was seeking confirmation he had access to correct account) he asked for your bank PIN (to ensure he could try and empty your account ocne accessed)

Weather you accept it or not, he had your password and RSN.
Pick a better password next time is my advice, and don't make it associated with anything you pos or say online.

 

:facepalm: That's what I need to know, how the fuck can he have my password?? I already said I've no keyloggers on my PC. I never told anyone my password. The password wasn't that simple that can be guessed, so how he got my password? inb4usayphished, I wasn't phished either.

 

I'm not saying it was phished or you were infected on PC.

That leaves communication, so something you have said or done online has promoted him to get the password.

I do feel for you because it sounds like this person has put a fair but of time in leading upto accessing your account.

But it has to be either a PC infection or you mentioned the password, otherwise you couldn't get the password! :laugh:

 

If someone can get into the Jagex database, they wouldnt be hacking single users at a time, they would be getting straight through to the richest players around..

 

he probably collected info about you and succeeded in recovering your account, jagex probably already sent the password resett to him then he just made up a story about having access to jagex database so he can get your bank pin from you, after he got your bank pin waited for you to go offline and proceeded to resett your password

 

Nah he did so after about 24 hrs, good thing that I was also online and when I was unable to login due to him logged in, I changed password and saved about 10m GP off the account, he couldn't trade any of the GP.

Also, today I logged in and there was no bank pin on my account. The bank pin just disappeared :S

 

You got social engineered.

There's a way to attain passwords which maybe your downfall it's a common mistake which people don't usually realise.
