What determines a Fast laptop/computer?

I'm wondering what determines a fast speed Download and general surfing.

 

Your bandwidth.

 

As above, the higher the better, in the UK we have 100MB connections at the moment, which is very very fast.

Also depends how far away you are from your local interchange.

 

correct if you are physically close to your interchange it can increase speeds. Also having well specced PC i.e graphics/processor will decrease lag when loading pages and video's

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. With the speed of today's computers, the only thing that limits your download speed is your internet connection.
