Infraction Warning

I would like to be told that I have received an infraction, rather than you just put it on my account without any warning whatsoever.

If I was 2 Infractions away from Ban and you added 1 without telling me.. that's unfair. What happened to messages saying you have got an infraction?

 

From what i know they send you a message saying you have received an infraction i dont think they just slip them on your account for no reason or not telling you about it and as i have had some suggestions about infractions in the past many of the mods will tell you that infractions ARE warnings but if you feel like you have gotten an infraction that is unwarranted them just pm the mod that issued you the infraction and discuss it with them there is a sticky at the top of the feedback section specifically for what to do if your unhappy about an infraction view it here http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1245095

 

I am not unhappy about the decision.. I admit i was wrong.

Just saying you should have a warning as i didnt receive a message saying i got an infraction.

 

I get PMs for signature infractions, I've only ever got one sig infraction and that was sent via PM. However infractions for posts never get PMed to me, they just appear on my profile page.

If you are unhappy about an infraction and you want to try and dispute it, then you should PM the mod that issued it.

 

The mods just have to put something in the PM box when they give you an infraction. Everyone who I infract gets a PM since most of them end up bitching to me about it. >_>.

 

I haven't got a PM for any of my last few infractions. I don't get many infractions, 2 warranted since the beginning of October, but I haven't got a PM. I think it is probably more at the mods discretion/laziness.

 

I used to get PM's from mods regarding my infractions (The last PM was in 2009/2010 I believe.) but I no longer do.

Either way, it doesnt bother me, I check often and currently have no points against me anyway.

 

It's up to the mod, if they put something in the field explaining why you got the infraction, then you'll get a PM. For obvious stuff, sometimes we may not include an explanation. I think it is important to always give a reason, and other mods should too.

I like what Malakadang is doing in the SFA forum. Whenever someone receives one, he edits their post so at the bottom it says in nice bold red writing that they received one.

Not only does it let the person know (albeit sometimes they'll probably never check back due to being spammers) that they've done something wrong, but it also deters, and informs others not to do the same.

 

I used to do that, but it gets a lot harder when you're dealing with 50+ reports, hence why we dont always PM either.

 

Yeah, I understand that as time goes on you'll naturally lose the original enthusiasm you have as a mod, however maybe, then, you could automatically get a PM for infractions?

I don't know, not having acquired any myself, on Sythe, I just thought I'd point out that many are doing their jobs, and others are doing other jobs (e.g. scam reports)

 

Well for a while I assumed all infractions got a pm. I am on an iPhone so it's a hassle to add a comment.

 

I never get PMs about infractions for posts. I get them for signatures though I have only ever got one. If you check your user profile every day then you shouldn't miss an infraction.

 

Would it be easy for mods to copy and paste some paragraph (along with the post quoted) explaining you got an infraction and how to appeal as well they must reply to that pm if he/she wishes to do so.

 

infractions are warnings, you should follow the rules in the first place.

 

With the market section your doing like 50-100 reports a day, most people when they notice the infraction if they are unsure why they get it they normally pm me, but I honestly thought there was an automated message that gets sent when an infraction is given.

Only if you type a subject and a word or two in the PM box thing when you give it.

 

If there was an auto reply to say you have been infracted every time I wouldn't mind that feature. Or maybe a box to say "send pm also" rather than having to type something.
