If possible, I think adding this line to posts would help new members more quickly learn the rules and cut down on a lot of spam on the forums. This way, infractions serve as warnings not just for the person receiving them, but also for anyone who happens to view the thread.

I would like this. I remember someone was doing it for a little while but they stopped. If it not to much work I would love to see this. Im sure it would stop alot of useless spam if newer members saw it.

Right, but if someone is infracted or banned for a post, the post will be deleted? If he spams something he lose a post count for a removal of post.

I've no issues with this suggestion, this might be better since will give an understanding to people about what not to post :p

I support, new users would be able to see examples of what to post and what not to post. Could save time for the mods as well.

If the staff is willing to go that little extra distance for it that is good, but I don't really think its that necessary. For example when there are say 5 pages of spam reports, I think it would take much longer to do them if they had to do what your suggesting for (almost) every one of them. The staff may see this as a hassle, and it isn't entirely necessary, so I would say support if the staff are all for it.

I agree with x339. It's just a little too much extra work for the mods to do,considering most of their comments will never be read again. (my guess is that a new user could care less about checking on his infractions).

If a user cares and pms the mod who infracted him or her though, I'm sure the mod will explain why the user was infracted.

@syph, x339 I think the idea is that new users, on seeing posts for which people were banned/infracted, will have a better idea of what's allowed and what isn't.

No support, it seems unnecessary. How do you go about implementing this suggestion? Making it mandatory that moderators edit the posts? When you have 40 pages of spam reports, that would really add a lot of time to the reports. Also, there's a chance new members never look at the posts. To be honest, I think the rules are self-explanatory, and it includes a few examples:

I do it in the SFA, but it's quite an additional workload when you take into account the full extent of the RaS. Let's say someone wanted to get 50 spam reports done in an hour (fairly easy, reasonable, and common). If they had to edit a message in half of their reports, it would add an extra 10~ minutes probably, and those 10 minutes could've been used to do another 8-10 reports.

I don't mind the idea, but it would really be at each moderators discretion.

If there were a way to have it automated that would be great. Either way though, it doesn't have to be on every post and would mostly have an effect if it were done in threads with lots of discussion occurring it, but with a spam post or two.

    Noobmage explained this well:

I think it should definitely be at the discretion of the mod, but adding a way to make this easier for it to happen would be great too.

Wait, so your suggestion isn't to make this mandatory? It's to add something that edits in the phrase? I mean, it isn't a bad idea, but is it really necessary? What if new members don't even look at the posts? That would make the time moderators spent useless. Also, I'm not sure on how long Matthew and/or Govind would have to spent implementing this suggestion. Like I've said, I think the rules are self-explanatory, and they even cite a few examples. If this suggestion does get implemented, I'm not going to hate it. But, I'm contemplating how much it would actually help compared to how much effort it takes to implement the suggestion, and how much time the moderators spend using it.

No, sorry if this hasn't been clear, but the suggestion isn't to make it mandatory. There are plenty of cases where it would be best if the post was just infracted and deleted (excessive bumping for example).

If it's not possible to easily add this on, then I guess this would be just an idea for mods to start doing as they see fit.

Since "moderators doing as they see fit," is "moderators discretion," it's not really a site suggestion. Also, restating what I've said since it's relevant:

It's a site suggestion if it's something that can be easily added, such as a box to check for moderators or something. Otherwise, yes, you're right and we agree.

I know that's a site suggestion, that wasn't what I was referring to. I was talking about if the suggestion couldn't be implemented, using moderator discretion, and typing it out isn't a site suggestion. Anyway, I think we'll just have to wait for someone like Matthew or Govind to post their opinions on the thread.

I'm not a fan of making infractions public. There'd be an increase in users complaining why someone did / didn't get infracted when it's not necessarily their business.

This is a really good point, especially for the more grey area infractions. I'm probably against this suggestion overall now.
