In class we are going over american history and what not and so in order to see the suppression but on blacks and stuff like that we watched DO THE RIGHT THING and I thought it was a really good movie. there were some things that I didint really understand like why MOOKIE threw the chair to really kick start the fight at Sals.

Post if you have seen it and what you thought of the movie

I watched it earlier this year in school. I thought it was pretty good, but it really felt like a reverse racism kind of deal. For example, the part where mookie started the riot at Sal's. He blamed Sal (basically a representation of "white people") for what happened to Radio Raheem, when clearly it was just the fault of the of some stupid (and possibly racist) police officers.

This quote from spike lee really makes me angry

He is clearly just making another racist remark about white people, but tries to make it look like its white people being the racist ones. Obviously people question it because it was not in anyway Sal's fault that Radio Raheem was killed, not because Sal was white and Mookie was black.

ahh yes good feedback so far. and thanks for that quote and analyzation reall made me kidna think about that. i loved freaking radio raheem he was the man. I dont know if i would call the 2 cops racist because they did look out for the blacks when they sprayed that white mans caddi but then again what could they of done. and yes i did feel like reverse racistism was kind of the deal.

I felt that this was another point of reverse racism. The cops didn't "look the other way" because they thought the black people were right in what they did, but instead did so because they realized they were out numbered. That part of the movie was supposed to show that the black people were heroes for what they did, and when they intimidated the cops it was another little "fight the man" message.

Now think about this, they think its ok for them to basically threaten the cops just because they are white. If the cops had arrested them for doing something that is illegal, they would have been called racist.

As well as gathering information have you tried looking up on Google? When wanting help with assignments I often look at Google.
