    Free Healthcare!

Should the government obligated to take care of ALL of it's citizens heath-care needs?

Basically, I am really thinking on joining the debate team, and will also like to learn how to 'debate.'

IF YOU CAN, you don't have to, but IF YOU CAN please post where you found the information from.

This is not a real debate that I will be 'debating' but its just practice for me.

There is no such thing as free healthcare; all government services come at a cost and are paid for by the taxpayers.

New age bullshit will get you nowhere, so then you're left at a crossroad. Quack medicine or proven results? I am going with the proven results. Also your post is unintelligent spamming as it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

    OT:

As Jimmy said there is no such thing as 'Free Healthcare' there is Socialized Healthcare where the costs of the services are shared among tax payers. Most of the industrialized world uses this system and it is really a better system than the privatized system in my opinion. The privatized system has it bonuses but it's cons really out weight it's pros in my mind. If you are born with some sort of illness or develop some form of illness you are screwed as most insurance companies won't cover pre-existing conditions.

Not sure if trolling or just very stuck in own beliefs. Okay, let's all just ignore the evidence of vaccinations, tablets etc being successful in preventing us from dying to easily curable diseases. You know what saved human populations from polio, smallpox and measles/mumps/rubella? Vaccines. Magic didn't.

Back on topic, westernised healthcare is a fundamentally socialist idea (be careful using that term in front of certain audiences). Taxpayer dollars contribute towards "equal health care for everyone" thanks to government control. Although in countries such as Australia, both public and private healthcare are available, where the quality differences can be quite noticeable. But in general, free healthcare (ideally) is meant to pay for serious or life threatening surgery/medicine etc, whilst private is for that plus other surgeries depending on the company. Free healthcare has many cons, such as long waiting lists (you could wait 6 months to several years to get something like a cataract removed) and the inability to choose your doctors at will, which private healthcare can otherwise provide.

    You know what he means.

I am in favor, simply because of the statistics. Not only do statistics from around the world show that universal health care is far more successful, (look at the satisfaction rates of countries like Sweden, France, Canada, New Zealand, and Norway in contrast to the USA) but the fact that one's health could seriously be jeopardized by their personal wealth seems absurd if you are living in a culture and nation where the government plays a strong role in your life. I am more socialist and Liberal at heart, so there is an element of bias there, but I digress.

Don't forget surgery for an arm or leg could take weeks or months on a waiting list with universal health care... That would be a pain in the ass waiting like that.

Of course. That's why there should be an option for both.

Simple economics, in the words of Merylle: "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch"

    COMPLETELY against it.

However, for your purpose, I will refrain from economic terms, and just refer to using unbiased opinions. You should always have a counterargument for yourself on the debate team. Here's a good pros/cons list of free healthcare (notice how the cons list is so much larger).

You are looking at an American published website, which means that it isn't going to be completely unbiased. Most of the industrialized world uses a universal healthcare system, and even Mass in the US uses a form of universal healthcare and has for a while now. It has worked, has been proven, and provides essential services that should be a basic human right to medical attention. You are arguing based on a macro level, but on a human level it is a completely different story. I bet your opinion would change very quick if all of a sudden you lost your insurance and developed some sort of cancer. No insurance company would want to carry you because of a 'Pre-existing condition.'.

Yes, I am pro-capitalism, hence my ideology comes to a conclusion :p

My dad was poor and still pro-capitalism with government intervention.
I used to live in England, it was really nice since they actually go to your house if you're pregnant/unable to get out of your house, but getting actual help took SO long.

While the subject deals with economics it doesn't mean that your country is automatically a communist country if you have a socialized healthcare system. The US is pretty low on the list in healthcare systems.

    http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html

Edit: The statistics are kind of old, but I am sure they haven't changed much as the healthcare system has just got worse.

I agree that the system of healthcare in the US is not as great as compared to others, but the thing is, that you cannot implement it successfully into this country because of politically motivated opposition, as well as lobbyists, etc. The economic system will not allow for it to run successfully, and since you are keen on economics and politics to whatever extent, it should be noticeable by now in this country.

Not to mention that the time it takes to receive medical service from other countries is based on "level of medical condition" in which they classify everything in order of chosen priority. No one has "good healthcare", since it's a relative term, and the lag time for appointments is increased quite a bit.

I do, however, promote universal healthcare; free-health care is near nonexistent lol.

    Idealistically, no.
For example, does the United States have the money to do that? I've heard that they have massive debts to China and are printing money that they don't have, which is leading to cheaper dollar prices.

The US has been printing more money than they have for a long time. Our fiat currency (The dollar) is no long backed by any standard. Hasn't been for a while.
