90m names being deleted

This is actually a pretty well thought idea. I have noticed more people seeking after more unique names. I see less and less names like "herryhat445528"...

Well this will be cool. If I played more I might go for a nice name.

 

Does anyone think this will effect prices of RS names?

 

Names aren't like other "items" in the game. The price is dependent pretty much only on the name itself rather than the quantity of available names. Obviously this because there's only one of every name.

 

There will however be a rapid influx to the market. Prices will lower considerably for a short time (very short) before bouncing back to present pricing.

New names open for consumers to take for themselves (less demand)
New names enter the market from those who mass snag (less demand)

You are however right in the fact that all names are unique, but keep in mind that many users would be happy for a variety of "rare" names rather than just one.

I think it's fucking stupid. So they just steal names from accounts that people haven't played on in a while. lame.


Did they ever delete accounts that haven't played in a while? I feel like I have some old ones I can't get to.

well if it works out like last time the legit hoarders will receive most of them soo i doubt prices will lower

 

Wonder what would happen to an account that got it's name freed up, wonder if they're due to a free name change, regardless if they're members or not, anyone know a little more information about this that they're willing to share?

 

its like if your account name was offensive. when you login to the game you are given the create a name thing and cannot play untill you make a name

 

Basically screwed out of a name because of in-activity, I think that's absurd, if you were lucky enough to get whatever the name might be in the first place, I think you should at least be able to keep the name until it's changed by the person them self, not on how much the account's been played.

 

Runescape isn't letting me log on I really want to see if I can get some names
