It shows hard work, determination, commitment and a great mindset to adapting to things, valuable to any employer.

Although I don't see it as a means of measuring ones intelligence, rather just their work ethic.

"Never let your schooling interfere with your education." - One of my favorite quotes.

Obviously this won't work for everyone. If you want to become a doctor or mechanical engineer, it's kinda necessary to have a great education. For others, some can't even learn without school. In my opinion, school isn't right for everyone, and isn't even necessary. Any employer who takes what they do seriously and can understand the level of skill possessed by an interviewee will know that a lack of a degree or school based education does not matter at all. I always felt strongly about this namely because I never gave a shit about school and learned on my own. Because I've done that, I am already working in my preferred industry - an industry which usually expects years of grad school and whatever - and I haven't even graduated college. In fact, the only reason I am going to college (and feel like many others are as well) is due to societal and family pressure.

t;dr school is a waste of time if you know what you're doing

I could not agree more. Nicely said.
I have not given two shits throughout school.
I still work hard and love to learn different things on my own and I feel that anyone else could do the same. School can limit the things you want to do. Some people love school and absorb as much as they can while they are there. Others learn more outside of school.

    Well said (Y)

I sorta agree. Education is key too life, but the education they feed us in life, not all is needed. Now, I am a child, freshmen in high school, but I think I know what I'm saying. If you can do what is needed, then your fine. School teaches us plenty of things, because they thing that it will help you, probably not all of it, but most of it because who knows what you'll do in life. But, I myself, know what my goals are. What I want to do, and the majority of my friends do too.

I like your essay. I agree with you. My parents and brothers taught me mostly of things than school. I'm in my final year of university.

I believe a person should be well rounded and productive, I mean that is what we go to school for isn't it? To be well rounded thinking individuals in a society that values idealism? Well in my opinion not so much anymore, our society now values conformity more than individualism. I am against standardized testing for this very reason. I mean I can be great at Science, Mathematics, and English but person B could be good at Physical tasks. We are not made for a single mold as people and modern learning tries to put everyone into a single mold. While I value intellectualism there are just some people who are better off being a construction worker, it sounds harsh in those terms and rather cynical but we are all different and some of us will use our brains while others will use their backs.

tl;dr Individualism and education is better than ignorance

Education is power. Simple as that. Education is the foundation of all society in my opinion, and good infrastructure is contingent (not completely, however) on education.

What is your philosophy of education?

Education is the stepping stone to everything. If you don't know how to do something, you won't do it, its as simple as that. But the fact of the matter is now that people are getting smarter and smarter, in order to function in the common atmosphere you need to be educated, and no only be educated but be skilled at something. Why else do you think shitty schools have less kids go on and be successful, because the learning environment they are put in isn't successful.

What is your philosophy of education?

Education - The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.
Failure - An act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful; lack of success.

    Hmm?
