You need to burn Memtest to a disc and boot with it to run it.

An alternative is use a program like Unetbootin (the win equivalent) to make a bootable USB stick.

I already stated that in my previous post on this thread, if you had read it.

If you have a USB stick:

    http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/unetbootin-windows-latest.exe

Run this program, once you have the ISO for Memtest downloaded.
Click 'Disk Image', then '...' to browse for the ISO image.
Make sure your USB stick is over 1GB in size.

Should look like this, with the path for your ISO instead of the Ubuntu disk shown in the picture. (forgive me for pinching images off another website).

Type: USB Drive, Drive: Browse for your USB stick, and select that. Then click OK. It should work it's magic.

Once you've done that, you'll want to reboot, with your USB stick plugged in.
You will most likely have to go into your BIOS settings. I have no idea what motherboard you have, so you'll have to be quick and try and see where it says 'Press F(something) to change settings)', or something similar.

Navigate through your BIOS settings, till you find a screen that has options similar to this:

You'll want to move the removable disc/USB drive to the top of the boot order.
    Save changes and exit.
Once you've restarted it should boot off the memory stick. Run Memtest and relay the outcome here.
    Best of luck.

You can do it with a USB drive or CD/DVD rom also.

In my experience, stop error 0x124 generally means one of the QPI/VTT voltages are too high or low. If your computer came with some sort of overclock, that would most likely be it.

However, it is always a good idea to run a diskcheck (open up cmd type in "chkdisk /r" and see if its a hard drive issue) and memtest to rule out memory being bad.

Can you not claim warranty on the computer or was it a custom build?

If you're using a USB stick make sure it's in the root..

But in this case I think you personally should just go to a pc shop lol.
