Make Market traders read the rules

    Hi

now this suggestion may be total rubbish to you all or you may like it. I thought of it because everyday I check the XBOX market and "DJWEASEL" (hope I spelt it right) has had to lock a bunch of threads because no one provides proof of what they are selling. It's sightly longwinded so I'm just going to go for it.

For example a guy joins the forums just to sell MSP for XBOX so he goes straight to the Xbox sections and make a quick topic explaining what he's selling an how much

These new guys never take time to read the rules for each section so when they get their threads locked they just think "ah fuck sythe I won't bother" (or something like that)

So my idea is and I don't know if its possible. If the guy is new to sythe when he clicks on a market section could be runescape market or xbox market or WOW market when he clicks a section he is prompted to read the rules and can not accept for 30 seconds

obviously this means a list of rules for each section will have to be composed for this to work let me know what you think and also sorry if I have written this badly

Well there's no way that we can force people to read things. I got on this morning and there's a lot of locked threads because all the kids fail to provide proof. I am personally sick of when people say "will upload proof" then they never do and ask me why I locked their thread.

To be honest, I don't think that this would be all that difficult to implement.
The issue is as to whether we want to bother our potential users, making them have to "unlock" each section.

For that reason I wouldn't support this. Most wouldn't read it anyways.

I wouldn't mind having new users view the terms of market and then click ok I accept and proceed would work?

But there is so many rules for each section they wouldn't read it?

    It's difficult huh?

Possibly, but I mean before entering each section redirect them to the sticky, and then have them click ok i agree before entering.

I feel like a "Do you accept" would work. Some people would read it at least.

A 30 second timer would be way too much of a hassle. I could see people just quitting instead of bothering with it.

People never read shit they are told to. It wouldn't really help with much.

I doubt they would read it too, Its like the terms and conditions you have to accept when downloading something. And just to say they were warned wont stop anything, just increase locked threads and bans. The object is to inform the users of the rules so we can stop the problem.

Maybe try to disguise it in a way people will notice, like put a link titled RULES next to the new reply button, and a small message saying "read the rules before you post".

Try not to make it like a dictatorship where people have to read the rules, but give them an obvious option to so you can know if someone just blatantly disregarded the rules or didnt know (which is almost always the case). Maybe you can get a popup message for newcomers to the section that says "Be sure to read the rules before you post". and modify the rules in a simpler form specified for the section so people wont have to read a huge paragraph.

Also once a person reaches a certain amount of postcount, say 100 they can get an automatic pm linking them to the whole rule thread. Or something in another fashion. Just giving an idea :p

Even if you make an enter screen I highly doubt anybody will read it, most will scroll down and click I accept making it pointless.

If this could be implemented Id support it. I really do think it could help new users if they we're redirected to a sticky explaining the rules of that particular section when they entered it. It wouldn't solve the problem, but Im sure it could help.

To be honest, no one reads them; they would just click "I accept," or wait out the timer without reading them. I'm also not sure on how hard this would be to implement.

Reading the rules is what we recommend and tell all people to do , but we can't force them , maybe when people register , there should be a text with market rules :) there they just say if they agree or not , but most scammers anywyas would agree :(
