Why do people think people smoke weed because it's "hip"?

People do it because it's fucking amazing to be high. If anything, cigarettes are used to be "hip". I've had so many friends say they want to start smoking cigarettes because EVERYONE does it...

 

LOL ARE YOU KIDDING? if you read the first post and/or had any knowledge of the topic, you would know that it will become legal in some form, its just a matter of time.

 

Says who? Becoming legal is an issue with the United States federal government and not each individual state. Even if every state supports the open smoking of marijuana, it still isn't legal per say.
Now, I won't be that nit picky, but can you expect every state to allow smoking marijuana even if just for medical purposes? I don't see that happening, and if it does you'll be long into your adult life.

 

All because of ignorance.

 

Regardless if it's legal in a week or in my adult life, or others adult lives, were still going to want to smoke it up

I know, but I'm perfectly fine with it being illegal. The prices are lower per ounce because of it, and from someone who currently has their MMJ card, it's awesome keeping it the same legality as it is now.

 

Support for legalization seems to be at an all time high right now and it's becoming apparent through the very close polling for legalization that's been done, if I recall correctly I remember that legalization vote a while ago in California only losing by a few percent, I remember hearing a similar poll will happen again this year, I see influential politicians voicing opinions against prohibition and it gives me hope that it'll be legalized at least in various places in North America in the next 5 years or so.

 

What exactly do you mean with legal?
It's legal in my own country, in a way.

Like are we talking legal to just smoke, or legal to grow weed, or shops that sell weed or what exactly?

Just to give an example, this is our countries policy:

- You are allowed to carry several grams of weed on you (I think 5-10 grams)
- You are allowed to grow (I think 5) weed plants yourself
- You are allowed to smoke weed
- You can buy weed in coffee shops
- You have to be 18 to buy / smoke weed

How i wish it could be like this everywhere, but in california i bileve it's about 5-6 plants you can own per household...But honistly if i had a big enough area, i'de totally grow more than that.

It's a good business to get into selling to dispensaries, if you get going to where you harvest every month, youll easily make over 100k a year.

 

I once watched a documentary where they showed a small group of people whos religion was that they 'believed' in the weed plant.

Seeing as the government can't touch religions, the group was allowed to grow and smoke weed whilst it was against the law.
And yeah, this was in the USA.

 

i dont think it will ever be legal. there is to much money to be made by big corperations. oil/tobbaco/alcohol/timber companys etc... they all give money to keep marijuana illegal.

Also leaders who are going around saying there tough on crime and they will keep your children safe etc... People are going to vote yo keep there kids in this false security.

Home this made some kind of sense. don't feel like going into detail.

 

It could take many years for marijuana to be legalized. There are good things about it and there are bad things about it. There's a big debate about it, but we'll have to say in about 1-5 years and see what happens.

Well, if you live in Canada vote Liberal, because they 'promise' to legalise cannabis if they win PM. From USA.. I suggest you move to Cali at the least

I don't think it'll ever become legal in the UK. People underestimate the effects it has on the brain and whilst there are people who smok it and claim it has no effect on them, it does not mean marijuana has no effect on everyone. For some people, it can cause them to be extremely violent. It's for this reason, and many others, that it widely remains illegal.
