My friend od'd the other night.

So Tuesday night sometime my friend John and Bob(Name has been changed) went over to a friends and this guy that was there had a lot of dope. So John and Bob took the free dope and snorted it. They even walked down 29 after they did it. Bob told me he was puking afterwards and John wasn't and was even calling him a pussy and shit. Bob passed out first, and when he woke up in the morning he found John dead. He thought he was asleep and kept trying to wake him up, he told me he opened his eyes,but they didn't move. He only saw one side of his face, and on the other side foam had come out of his mouth. John died with his PS3 controller in his hand. Just turned 18, and yes a little misguided. He like to get fucked up, but this was the first time he did dope. I have personally been telling him to slow down lately(he has been popping 50 Valium at a time, plus eating the gel from these 3 day opiate patches) He just never listened, his house used to be where I went to smoke. It was always a party everyday in there. John had so many friends and its just going to be different without him here. I don't know how to take it yet. Its almost as if its not real. I can't believe it happened, I even heard sirens that morning, and Bob texted me after the ambulance and cops had left and told me John died the night before.

We all agreed that he died doing what he wanted, and he wanted to get fucked up.

I just wanted to post this. Bobs name was changed because I don't wanna say my other friends name.

I just want you to know that I have been there, and I know how bad it sucks. I had a really close friend who I worked with for many years, who invited me over for drinks one day right before I got cleaned up. We were having a great time catching up, but I was getting dope sick and I asked him for $50 to buy some dope and told him I would pay him back, he agreed and sent me off to get it. Now he told me that he had used dope before, but as far as I know that was BS and so I refused to give him any when I got back, telling him to go to work and finish his shift first and when he came home later I would give him some under supervision.

Well, the last thing I remember is doing a shot and falling off his barstool and just blackness after that. I woke up in the ambulance on the way to the hospital afterwards, puking my guts out. I was told that 911 had been called as I had fell off the stool unconscious, and stopped breathing shortly after. When the paramedics arrived, they said my face & lips were turning blue and I had been without oxygen for 1-2 minutes. I was in hospital for the rest of the day, signed myself out eventually, and went home. I did not call my friend after his shift ended to go back to his house and get the rest of the dope, and figured it could wait until morning as I was so exhausted after nearly losing my life.

The next morning I awoke to the same police at my door who were apparantly called to the house when I OD'd. My friend had "stashed" the dope when the police & paramedics came to get me, and after he had come home from work late that night with 2 friends, he had went quietly into another room and tried to teach himself to prepare a shot and shoot it into the crook of his arm, the way he saw me do it. He died minutes later, overdosing on the same dope that nearly killed me, and the same dope that I should never have brought into his house in the first place.

I have to live with his death on my conscience and in the back of my mind every single day. The fact that it could have been me who died is even worse... the junkie heroin addict who had nothing going for him at that point, or the innocent kid who used one time (he was obviously inexperienced with heroin, despite what he said about using before). Unfortunately, sometimes it takes horrible events like this to open peoples eyes to the danger of drugs, especially dope, and as horrible as the memories are, I always try to think of my friend who died instead of me that day. It all could have been avoided if I had just never brought that fucking junk into his house in the first place.

Please, be there for your other friends right now and talk about this situation, as horrible as it is. Be aware of the dangers of hard drugs, especially dope, and hopefully you guys can all carry a piece of John with you in your hearts forever. Thanks for your response Zerker and I'm sorry that that happened to you aswell. We can't predict the way things will turn out. I'm just hoping his sister and mom are doing okay.

The police also told Bob that its the second death around here from dope recently.

 

No, unfortunately life is so unpredictable and fragile. I think we all tend to forget that.

If other people have died in the area from the dope then its very likely that there is a bad batch going around. Dope is one of the drugs that you can just never, ever tell the purity of it and it can vary from batch to batch with an inexperienced user having no idea that the purity and strength of the batch is 10x stronger than the last stuff they used. Just a word of caution.

My thoughts & prayers go out to you, your circle of friends, and John's family.

No offense but thats extremely disrespectful towards your deceased friend. Not something you would want to spread.. you wouldn't say that to his family would you?

Unfortunately this situation has the worst ending possible. If anything take it as a life lesson and adjust your life accordingly to avoid taking the same path. Sorry for your loss.

 

all i can say is damn. you seem like youre dealing with it pretty well though. just keep your head up and learn from it. also how is your other friend and everyone else taking it?

 

Its not disrespectful towards him if you knew him. He liked to smoke, drink, do pills. He liked the sedated lifetyle and he died doing what he liked to do. He was a great person though and had tons of friends. He literally knew everyone.

His family seems to be doing alright, and my other friend is better now. Everyone Ive seen has just been reminiscing about him. Lately all we do is tell stories about things we did with him. Some great memories.
