Botting Lawsuit in Jagex's Favor

Very interesting read. I'm actually glad Jagex wasn't bluffing about pressing charges and filing lawsuits against botting companies and the owners.

In the judgment :

• Lein on defendants house for %200 of the value.
• Defendants must turn over all software and botting websites
• Must write a public apology
• Not allowed to associate with Jagex or any of its affiliates
• Cannot play any Jagex games
• And more..

Pretty stiff penalties, gotta suck to pay Jagex hundreds of thousands of dollars..

About time they started taking serious legal actions,
But it's going to such hard cock for the ones that go this lawsuit against them and have to end up paying Fagex, thousands.

 

Jagex won and basically won this: A six figure sum which can't be said by rscheata or they can face a fine of up to a million $, Mark and eric can't talk/play/use any of jagex's products and they must forfeit and never develop bots for any of jagex's products ever again.

 

SMH..... Sucks they have to pay Fagex tbh, all that over creating bots. Thats Crazy

That seriously sucks for people which scripted scripts and such, a hobby turning into lots of charges to pay for.

 

Ouch, I guess Jagex weren't kidding. I'm pretty sure they're mainly doing this for the money though.

 

wow its gonna be really bad for the people that developed scripts that arnt as big time and dont have as much money as a company. Also like Laptop said i think its for the money seeing as the amount of people playing runescape is dramatically decreasing.

 

I don't believe it works like this. I will have to look deeper, but I don't think the buyers/dev's can be punished.

It's hard to believe that the Snellmans thought that they could get away with copyright infringement for all this time...

Wow, I honestly feel bad for those 2 guys. I mean on one hand they are completely responsible for everything that has happened and need to be held accountable for their continued actions and bot development, but on the other hand I feel that Jagex is just looking for a way to go after the bigger companies and make a ton of money to make up for all the financial loss they have inevitably suffered from demolishing bots and goldfarmers from their games.

Oh well, in the end the Snellman's should have seen this coming ages before they were actually dragged into court. I wonder who Jagex is going to target next, or who they have already filed further lawsuits against?

 

It sucks that tones of account have benefited from botting and now all the none botters have to legitimately earn their rsgp.

 

And where in-lies the problem with that..? I'd rather play with legitimate players.

 

i agree. i feel bad that the brothers poured the last few years of their life into something that is completely gone now. the public apology was just a slap in the face as well.
