I'm not sure what category this falls under so I'm not sure there is a rule against it - if there is, by all means, remove this.

Would anyone be interested in a name check service? I wrote it for a friend and I to use it personally, but I figured if there was a demand for it I would start a service out of it.

What it does is checks for availability of a desired username, and if available, you will be notified by email within 10 minutes of it becoming available, usually immediately. With smart phones nowadays, this means you will be notified almost immediately wherever you are

If I was to start a service out of it, it would be run off my server and the source not revealed as to keep my service unique

I personally think its a good idea and I'd be very interested in this type of service lol.

 

Only thing I'm not sure about is multiple people requesting the same name, I guess I'd have to make it first come first serve

Im pretty sure this isnt allowed because it would promote 'sniping' which is against sythe rules and is a bannable offense.

 

It's not sniping at all. If there's a name taken in game that you like, and you'd like to know when it's free, then you'll be emailed. Doesn't have to be advertised on Sythe.

 

This seems a little pointless... All it takes to check for the availability of a name is adding to your friends list; if it shows up then it's unavailable. If it says 'Unable to name - unknown player' it's one of two things: 1. It's available or 2. It's not allowed.

any name worth taking will be taken WAY quicker than that.

 

The chances of getting a name like "a" are probably pretty slim. I personally wrote a simba script to register names the minute they become available, so I'm sure other people have similar scripts

This service would be better for things that aren't the target of every single name registration bot in existence.
