The number of members participating in the DDoS is completely irrelevant. The number doesn't matter, however the size of the bot net does. For all you know, each member could have a botnet of a couple thousand. Of course I'm making these numbers up, but my point remains.

 

for the love of god please explain to me what there doing to fuck up all the websites. I have no idea how that part of it works at all I just love that there screwing with everyones sites.

I'll give you the simple explanation:

People are using large botnets (basically they can control your computer) to flood websites with requests until the websites server can't handle the amount of traffic, so the website crashes/becomes hella slower.

Kinda the easy answer lol.

 

So its a differant kind of attack than when they retrieved all the bank client info a couple months ago?

There is clear evidence that the Anonymous Twitter released a RAT a couple of days ago and it remains on their site. Might I remind you that in the United States this is met with 5-15 years in federal prison.
Secondly, the IRC channel they are using for this Op isn't encrypted. If you entered their IRC they have probable cause to arrest you (and detain you based on NDAA principle). Now while were on the subject of NDAA, Anonymous is now considered a terrorist organization and if you are participating in the active DDoS, you are a terrorist.

You honestly think there stupid enough to hack the goverment from there own house computers? They use many things to avoid this.... like Fake Hosts, Proxy's etc.
