No, however the images they host on their site probably will be. Every pile of gold you see at Gold4Fun, is after all, "Jagex's Property".

I am not sure of the specifics, but I think that SOPA would shut down the images part of google. I think that the searching part would still be ok, as long as there were no images.

They will be forced to shut down I believe. Websites like Gold4Fun rely solely on content from Jagex, so they would be violating SOPA in multiple ways.

What will happen to google with SOPA?

Would it? I thought it'd be okay because with the images, they're actually just referring you to the site the images are located, so they're not actually claiming the pictures for themselves or anything.

What will happen to google with SOPA?

The thing is that the US would force google to censor links they found infringing on copyrights.

What will happen to google with SOPA?

Here's the defining factor: will Google stay an American company if their business model is threatened? If Google no longer has the ability to operate at their fullest potential, they may remove themselves as a United States corporation. Google can't simply remove all piracy links (it's physically impossible due to the number of attached pages) and they may be forced to operate outside of the US.

Now, if we continue on with the current legislation stating that only non American sites will be blocked if found hosting illegal content, what is to stop a piracy site from moving to the United States to set up shop? Clearly these sites exist in the US and there is little to nothing done to American citizens that download pirated content, only to hosts. To destroy piracy is to imprison every citizen in the United States to ensure that there are no capable pirate hosts.

Now back to Google: there is no way that SOPA can create legislation that goes against Google. Google is in the top 5 if not the top 2 most viewed pages everyday and controls literally every social media plugin (YouTube, FaceBook, Blogger, Maps, etc). If the United States sole goal is to remove pirated content, they may lose Google to a foreign nation, and thus lose all sales for music producers after their content is no longer displayed to the masses.

Even though they're against SOPA I don't think Wikipedia will be affected, it's just an encyclopedia and as far as I know isn't really linked to piracy or copyrights

They are a compilation of copyrighted content. The major issue is the images that used. For the most part, Wikipedia does not own the images displayed and would be forced to remove them.

It won't affect the companies if they are accessed from England, right?

No. Only United States citizens will be unable to view certain content.

What will happen to google with SOPA?

Google wll probably just shut down due to unreasonable demands.

Google displays billions of search results that violate piracy, and they will be randomly shut down without notice almost daily unless every site is either approved or they manually scan through billions of results to find the pirated ones.
Basically, we will be reduced to memorizing IP addresses, which is the real issue here IMO

I don't think so. Google is grand enough to deny SOPA
