If the IP Act is signed then

    Botting, piracy, everything will continue...

For U.S. people it will be harder if websites get blocked, etc... but they can still access it with proxies and similar things.

If the IP Act is signed then

You don't need a proxy, just the exact IP of the website, instead of the name that you type in.

Most interview servers are based in the US I believe.. That means anything you try and access that is based in the US is gone too. ;)

And as a current college and soon to be medical student, I will be glad to be part of that Riot.

... Why does this matter in regards to botting? It doesn't at all.

I can't wait till the Obama administration is out of office. Hopefully Protect IP gets delayed until 2013.

Like TBT said, botting will still continue. It's one of those things that will always be around, like all sorts of internet piracy, etc.

I love how you guys know nothing about politics but are judging. The bills were both originated in the House and the Senate, and neither were initiated by Obama. Obama can veto the bill but the bill can still be over-turned. Good luck with a Warmonger in office.

The thing is that the bill will take out any site that has internet piracy associated with it. Including if it has subdomains that have even the most minor pieces of piracy on it. The language in the bill is so broad that is can cover a wide range of things.

This thread is the understatement of the year... We'll lose a lot more than our precious bots if the SOPA is passed.

    Wow, that's hilarious.

RuneScape is going to be a different game, that's for sure.. Andrew is out of the picture now. I'm sure the rest of the originals will be soon to follow.

    The White House
On January 14, 2012, the Obama administration responded to a petition against the bill, stating that it would not support legislation with provisions that could lead to Internet censorship, squelching of innovation, or reduced Internet security, but encouraged "all sides to work together to pass sound legislation this year that provides prosecutors and rights holders new legal tools to combat online piracy originating beyond U.S. borders while staying true to the principles outlined above in this response."
