    Selling Account question

    Hey everybody,

    I have a question about selling runescape accounts. I own quiet a lot accounts and I want to sell some of them because I simply don't use them anymore.

    I want to ask what to do and what will happen in the following situations;

    #1
    I am the original owner of the account
    I succesfully sell it to the buyer
    After a week the buyer claims that I have recovered the account in an attempt to get his money back. But I didn't take it back at all?

    What should I do to protect myself from this?
    What will happen?

    I am not the original owner of the account
    I succesfully sell it to the buyer
    After a week he claims that I recovered the account while I didn't do it.

    What should I do in this situation?
    What is going to happen?

    Edit:
    The last thing I wanted to know;
    Lets say in both situations the buyer actually loses his account because he got keylogged/phished and he claims I recovered it.
    What do i do then?

    Thanks in advance! :D

    Selling Account question

    Yeah this actually happened to me today, a buyer accused me of recovering but then found a keylogger on his computer. If he had actually put a report thread through before he found out he was key logged, what would happen? He recoverd the account back, so I clearly gave him the right details but this hacker got him def levels and it was a 1 def pure, so the account really is ruined and I do feel bad for the guy.

    Selling Account question

    Although I'm not hugely involved in the market, I'll attempt to answer this to the best of my ability.

    1. The buyer needs proof in order to get his money back. Basically he needs to be able to recover the account and check the last IP on the account. It better not match yours.
    2. If you're cleared of step 1, proceed to check the recipient's history to see if he/she has sold the account elsewhere.
    3. If he hasn't sold it, offer to recover the account for him.

    1. Again, check the last IP (if possible).
    2. Make sure the account hasn't been sold elsewhere
    3. Attempt to recover the account yourself
    4. If you fail, attempt to contact the previous owner and ask the same thing.

    You're not in any trouble unless your IP matches the last one logged in. Other than that, there's no proof of recovery. If he accuses you of scamming, without proof, you can report him and he'll be infracted.

    Selling Account question

    Thank you for your answer Sanctuary, it actually all makes sense but there's one thing I'm still not sure about.

    Lets say I try to recover the account but Jagex keeps declining it? The reason why I think of that is because I see so many people posting threads on RS official forums in the Account help section who are not able to recover their own accounts when they're the original owner. I have never had a problem with recovering my own account but what if this happens to me, in the end that will make me suspicious when I haven't even done anything wrong.

    If anyone else who has a bit more experienced in the rs market can tell me more about this, please post =).

    Seeing as no one else has spoken up, I'll give you my thoughts on this final situation as well.

    I believe the only way you'd be liable for being unable to recover the account is if you stated in your thread that you could, in fact, do it. I'd highly recommend you attempt to recover the account at least once before you go to sell it, just to make sure you won't have any issues after the sale. Nevertheless, if the buyer loses the account once the sale is complete, you are not responsible for it. In my opinion, it's simply good trading etiquette to help out as much as possible - even once the trade is over.
