Why does everyone have a pure?

I don't get the point of pures. The PKing is just repetitive and boring to say the least. And when you kill people, what do you get? 50K worth of gear, Congratulations! Half the people your level are just 1 item claw noobs and there isn't much to do on a pure besides PKing. Is it because they are so easy to make? Maybe it's because you hardly have to risk anything when PKing...

Almost everyone has a pure or is working on one at the moment. I don't understand why people just don't play on a main or make a zerker/tank/turmoil pure/staker/barrows pker for a change? Far more fun and profitable in the long run.

I'm talking about 1 defence pures by the way.

 

Everything you just said is your opinion. Personally, I used to PK for the sheer sport of it. PVP was something I simply enjoyed doing, regardless of whether or not I made a lot of money. It was merely a hobby; whenever I got bored of my main, I'd switch over to one of my pures and go and pvp.

 

For some people (HINT: not the claw rushers) pking is just for fun. It's like any other sport, it doesn't matter to these people whether they loot anything of value, the thrill of outsmarting/being more skillful than another player is enough in itself.

Most pure owners also have a main account to cover the moneymaking, questing, and bossing side of the game.

 

Most people do get bored of mains, I mean everything they do is repetitive, like bossing, frost dragons, etc. Pures are alot of fun, because you can do many things.

 

Mains get boring after a while. Pures can spice up your RuneScape game play. All pures are fun, but some are funner than others. In your opinion, pures are pointless, but in a lot of other people's opinion, they are fun.

 

Generally, people used to quickly bot 1 def pures because they're inexpensive and take barely anytime to make. Zerks/tanks/turmoil pure/barrows pkers all generally take longer to make and could cost ya quite a bit.

 

Pure pking used to be considerably profitable.

That was of course, before the market went to shit.

Nearly every kill would be about 300k-500k+. That was guaranteed money that you would get from a regular pure setup.

Obviously, things have changed, prices have dropped, new weapons and forms of rushing have occurred.

It still is a lot of fun, it's very fast paced and you have to be paying attention and planning out your next move in advance because of the high hits and how often they occur.

Some people like their main and barrow pure fights because they're a bit slower paced, you can tank hits and you're open to a plethora of new items to use. Plus, hybridding is a hell of a lot easier when you have karils and torag to help you tank.

But basically everything that you said is opinionated. Not every believes that or thinks that, that's just one person and a generalization.

 

alot of people have them because pking on your main can get really boring its just a fun little project to have if your getting borded of runescape. i jsut recently made a zerker pure and im having alot of fun on it, you should try it

 

I have a pure but i am thinking of turning it into an initatiate pure and getting slayer helm and korasi's and try and get 99 slayer

 

Back in the time when i used to play pures were still something special and beautiful. Having 40 99 1 was indeed unbelievable and something to aim for. This 3 to 5 years ago

 

They are fun to pk with.

 

Its somthing like a must have, everyone wants one

 

Because these days they are still pretty fun to pk on and are easily fund-able now.

 

Pking on pure's is so much better than mains and you can make quite a nice bank doing it too...well sometimes

 

Cos mains get boring, and to mix things up playing a pure makes it entertaining.

 

I made a pure to pk since it's much better then always fighting mains
with the same stats levels which gets pretty much boring..

 

some people like pure pking just for fun
but you do have a point, they suck for making money

 

It makes PKing easier & faster, and you can customize them so much.
Pure's are just the way to go.

I agree with what you said. Today pures are pointless other than a trophy on your shelf that you can show off to other people and say "check this account out". The p2p pure wildy scene is completly ruined with rushers and over powered weapons. F2p 40 att pures are somewhat useful in my mind because I use it to get away from p2p and own the f2p wild.
My zerker is so much more fun in PVP and PVM than when it was a top notch 1 def pure.

 

Most experienced players create a Pure majorly for the enjoyment of playing on a different type of account other then a typical main.

Pure's are also very flexible, in that it can be easily converted into another type of account, for example a Berserker Pure.
