Next Chaotic?

I already have the rapier, and I'm quite torn on what the next chaotic I should get is. I love dominion tower and safe clanwars, so please take this into account. I KNOW that rapier-maul-cls comparison is sticky'd, but there's not a comparison to other considerations. Also coming up! Nomad's Requiem. A good weapon there might be the convincing I need to get it.

My choices I'm considering!

CCB: I'm only 80 ranged but it seems like an excellent choice for firecape attempts which I will probably be doing soon. I don't range much though, so I don't see a lot of potential for use here unless there's something you all suggest would be fun/profitable to do ranging.

Maul: A great choice for waterfiends, and I'm looking to get my summoning up. From what I've heard it's incredibly fun to use this weapon as its hits are ridiculous. Might give me another incentive to get void also not bad as a pk choice, which I occasionally do, but I would rage sooooo hard if I lost it. Also seems like an okay choice for higher-defense monsters, like some in the dominion tower.

CLS: Good for bosses in the dominion tower, although I've seen that the rapier wrecks many of them quicker since many of the bosses are lacking in strength. Also a balance of strength and speed, and it looks pretty awesome too. Might be good for nomad too. I don't think I'd use it too much though.

CKS: This is the one I'm leaning towards. Fat defense bonuses, and a bit of stab. Great for minimizing food use on tasks or anywhere, which may not be the most economic thing to do but it sure is good for extending trips. If I ever need to range tank it's also great for that. Although it is outshined by the Ely and the Divine I will not be arsed to spend hundreds of millions and millions. Mainly because I can't afford it. But when you think about it the defender is better for offense and the dfs has better mage defense and is better for maging, in addition to the fact that dfs increases strength.

Please leave your reasons below! Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway: It would be great if you have the chaotic you're recommending. Even better if you have more of them!

Maul all the way bro. On my main, I have rapier, cls, ccb, and farseer shield, and I had maul until my friend lost it pking. Maul has been my favorite chaotic out of all the ones I have. It wrecks in pking, it's really good for waterfiends to get those charms, and decent at slayer and really good for PVM as long as you're maxed. Only bad thing about it is the time between hits.

 

farseer shield is definitely worth it, so you can have 2 chaotics at once

 

Chaotic long is pretty badass, it hits constant blows against many monsters. CLS with DDF is pretty much as accurate as a weapon gets.

 

Chaotic Crossbow: It would be a nice choice. Since you do Dominion Tower a lot, you must have used the dominion crossbow. Therefore, you should know how good a CCB is.

Chaotic Maul: DON'T! A maul is useless if you do Dominion Tower. You have access to goliath gloves, which, according to RSWikik "provides a substantial boost to a player's damage equivalent to that of an Abyssal Whip". I have tested them myself, and their Damage Per Second is higher than the Maul's. Summing up, unless you like to PvP, don't get it

Chaotic Longsword: It's a great weapon for bossing. Since you like the Dominion Tower, it's a great choice for bosses like Nomad. However, you said that the rapier suffices, so you might have to reconsider choosing it.

Chaotic Kiteshield... Here is the thing: If by any chance you decide to buy a Chaotic Shield, DO NOT GET CKS! If you want defence bonuses, get a Dragonfire Shield. On the other hand, if you want damage soaking, you don't need damage soaking in the Dominion Tower.

Eagle-Eye Shield: I know this wasn't one of your choices. However, this is a better option than the CKS at the very least. Why? Apart from the fact that pro nex teams demand it, it has 14% magic soaking. It may not seem like a lot, but if you stack it with full ganodermic, you have a total of 63% damage soaking! That would let you range Jad with just protect from range, with a low risk.


Overall, my suggestion to you would be as follows:
CLS > CCB = EEK >> CM

Whichever chaotic you choose, enjoy it!

P.D.: Yes, I did not include the Chaotic Kiteshield. Only buy it if you don't have anything else to spend the tokens on.

 

I say go for maul. It's the strongest.
CLS is better for monsters tho. Get CLS. It'll work for you best.

Maul was my second chaotic, and it is SOOO much fun! Plus it totally owns at waterfiends, Revs, all sorts of monsters as well as PVP You will not be disappointed, I promise.

 

Get a cls, it's damage is high and it's great for boss killing. Rune c'bow isn't much different than chaotic crossbow, dfs has almost the same defence as chaotic kiteshield + 7 str.

 

Definitely get the Chaotic Maul. It is extremely fun to use, it rips for slayer on Waterfiends (you said you wanted to get your summoning up, anyways), and it is the best choice for a 2nd chaotic.

 

I'd go for the maul Hits hard and is very fun to use

 

Chaotic Staff! I use it all the time with mage and it's amazing!

 

Maul or Chaotic Shield.

 

Here are my $.02:

CLS is definitely a must-have for most people's repertoire. I strongly urge most people to get it in their top three because it is so universally useful. I personally prefer CLS over the CR in most situations because the dps is slightly higher for monsters with high def or high HP. I generally even use CLS on slayer tasks because I've found that if the monster has around 2000 LP or more, the CLS is better. Coupled with a slayer helm bonus and the Dragon Defender, it only misses like 10% of the time for most tasks.

Maul - no. Just use Goliath Gloves with a DDF/DFS. The Goliath Gloves have basically made the CM useless, except in PVP combos. It's a big handicap for bosses, too, since it has a relatively low damage per second compared with the CLS.

CKS is really not much better than the DFS, and it has no strength bonus. If the only reason you want it is because you want to minimize food use on tasks, then I strongly suggest you master the art of prayer switching. I never take a shield OR food on any slayer tasks anymore (except Mithril Dragons) because flipping Soul Split is much better.

Like Kaosune, I suggest you look into the Eagle-Eye Kite. It's very underrated in my opinion.

Finally, the CCB and Chaotic Staff are considerable options, but they tend to have their specific niches. CCB is a must if you fight Nex or other ranging bosses. Since magic is generally a skill not used in PVM, the staff wouldn't do you much good except for PVP. It's a lot of fun barraging 400-450's in clan wars.

 

I like the Chaotic Staff and the CLS. If you prefer mage I'd say get the staff as you can barrage for very high hits, but the CLS is very useful for slayer and general PvM and safe PvP.

 

Thanks for all the input guys. It seems like the CKS will wait until I get some more chaotics, and Kero's argument against the maul is pointing me towards the CLS. I definitely will look into the CCB and the EEKS for my third chaotic. Are there any other uses for the maul besides fat hits and waterfiends?

 

The maul has the notable advantage of not decaying every 2 hours. If you plan on camping Waterfiends for charms to get a substantial amount, then the maul is much more worth it. It will take a good 30-60 minutes to kill 5 more bosses in the Dominion Tower to get a new pair of Goliath gloves. Still, the gloves outpace the maul for general PVM, and the CLS outpaces the maul for bosses. I personally have 99 summoning already, so I permanently cancelled Waterfiends as a task... and my maul is utterly useless now.

 

Maul is the most fun for PvM and PvP.

Doling out constant 500s when PvPing whether you're risking or just doing safe clan wars or fight pits is a ton of fun.

Plus, it's useful in PvM but against higher level monsters, you may be better off with the rapier because of DPS.

I would have said CCB first, but that's because I love range and it seems like you don't necessarily enjoy it so it might be a waste.

that about sums up the rest of the chaotics, I voted for ccb just because I'd get that second personally but it's really up to you

 

I eould get a maul. They own pretty much everyone in pvp.
