    Non-Virtual Item Market Rule Change

    This is the sticky: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1302165

I believe that consumable/ingested items should be added to the list of items not to be sold. There is inherent danger in buying and consuming items like these, and it only takes one bad thing of food/drink to kill someone. I know it is buyers beware, but things that are dangerous like these should be taken care of proactively instead of after the event occurs.

    Thanks,
    Nero.

I agree, the seller could spike the substance with something deadly, and kill/seriously injure the buyer. It's a possibility, but better safe than sorry.

I would have to agree with this.

There is a potential risk/health hazard involved with buying and selling consumable products, and then there is the obvious reason that this is a gaming website and not a grocery store.

No support, it's not like someone will be selling food which is likely to kill anyone, most that will be sold will be drinks(fizzy) and maybe bulk chocolate bars.

    No support.

I highly doubt anyone will try to 'kill' someone here. And i dont think anyone will buy food on sythe (my opinion) and if someone was to buy a drink, i suppose it'd be sealed for the buyer.

I am not saying people are going to try to kill people. It isn't difficult to have some bad food or drink be sold and someone ingest it and get sick. Also I have seen energy drinks being sold. I am not saying that it is likely to happen or that people even sell it much, it is just a precaution for Sythe because they would be help responsible.

If the same happened on eBay would eBay be held responsible? No, it's the sellers fault.

I support this. What if a person were to be killed by this? Think about the type of name it would give sythe and the people on sythe. If a persons death is caused and sythe is involved with it in any way then someone will likely blame sythe and possibly try to sue. All in all i think it should just be prevented alltogether, even if it is the sellers fault someones life shouldnt be played with like that.

Do people even sell that stuff on sythe? I support it as no Perishable goods, as opposed to consumables. Then things like soda and chocolate bars are allowed, if anyone even sells then

Lol the only thing I can think of that I would buy from anyone in nonvirtual is space icecream lol. but no one sells that so no worries yet. I would think non perishables with the seals still on them would be fine but anything that doesnt have a seal of freshness or w.e is sketchy and you shouldnt buy from 3rd parties anyway.

This thread is ridiculous with all that spiking crap and what not, someone could buy a book off somebody and the sellers put anthrax in it so either way if you're thinking because someone might get hurt. Might as well put a stop to all non virtual item sales.

I don't agree with it being put on the rules list. I mean, I live in Australia so it is next to impossible for me to buy, say, a Hersheys chocolate bar. What if someday I wanted to get some American candy just to try it out? It'd be quite easy for a Sythe member to supply it to me.

I would agree with a sticky mentioning that Sythe is not responsible for issues that may be caused, and a warning about dangers of purchasing Non-Virtual items online, but the members of Sythe really should have enough common sense to handle these sorts of things thereselves.

The average Sythe member doesn't have common sense though. Either way it is a possibility, and I am not talking about purposeful harm. I am talking like if someone gets a bulk shipment of X and that product is bad and they don't know it then they go and sell it on sythe.

Which is why I have supported a sticky, so the Sythe members will at least get a warning.

Most towns and cities in Australia have one or two import and speciality candy stores which stock Dr. Pepper and various other assortments of American food. Also, usafoods.com.au :D

It's really isn't needed. Members have a little more common sense (hopefully).
