Too many snipers on Sythe

 

PM'ing just prevents it a little bit.
If someone is seriously interested in sniping names he can just make a Sythe account and ask for a PM. The only way to prevent snipers is only PMing the ones with a good Sythe background (50+ vouches without any problems, 100$+ donators, etc.).. but that way you will be losing out on possible customers AND you can't be sure that they won't be sniping the names. They could easily snipe it and never sell it and just keep it for personal use.

Untill the following scenario happens:
Someone adds a guy from Sythe on RuneScape to sell/buy something.
He/she finds out that the seller/buyer actually has a very nice RSN.
He/she does an advanced search through name sales to see if the name was ever put on sale.
He/she finds out it was sniped or sold to someone else which apparantly didn't get it in the end.
--> Report a scammer to get the guy banned.

The scenario above will probably never happen but I find it pretty enjoyable to search for backgrounds of buyers/sellers before I decide to continue with the business. Even a simple action like searching their e-mail on google can get you links to Powerbot where the same person is banned. A simple action like that can avoid you to get scammed.

The same thing for name selling, if you want to be 100% sure of a name transfer you should only PM a couple guys who are buying names (such as T V, NAG, Roary as an example) and ask if they are interested. If you have PMed a lot of those people and no-one is interested / not interested enough for a high enough price you can put it for sale here and only PM people that might be interested.

You could even be more secure to only PM people with atleast 25+ vouches or something because newcomers could just have signed up to snipe names, etc.

In the end you can't be 100% sure on a succesful transfer as there will always be asymmetric information between the buyer and seller.
