White Pride

I can gurantee, when you read that title you instantly thought I was some sort of neo-nazi fascist.

I'll start this thread by stating a few things about myself -
Im white
Im am by no means racist and have never felt any hatred towards anyone of a different ethnic group from my own.


Anyways back on to the point. I was just wondering why when anyone says they are proud to be white they are instantly branded a racist/neo-nazi/KKK lover or so on.
Whereas if someone is proud of being black/asian/indian/middle eastern etc. it is completely alright. Im not saying it isn't alright and support pride in your history and ethnic routes.
Me personally I wouldn't ever say Im proud of being white, Im proud of being Scottish, but in a way I am proud of being white for all the good white people have done to build the country I live in today.

So just the question, why is it so wrong to be proud of being white?

I totally understand this could be controversial and taken way out of context but I really just want some opinions.
I can't understand it myself, Maybe there is a valid reason for white people not being allowed pride, if there is please give me the answer.

The fact is when you read this list one pops out to be racist the others do not -

Black Pride
Asian Pride
Indian Pride
Arab Pride
White Pride

Instantly White pride is singled out to be racist, I just want to know why white people are deamed to be oh so much more racist than our racial counterparts.

I am in no means someone that runs round saying white pride, I've just never understood it. Im proud of being Scottish and British in a way that is proud of being white since the majority of my ancestors were white along with the majority of Scottish/British original population.

I may be contradicting myself here, but I in no means agree or for that matter disagree with racial pride. Im just asking the question as to why it's so racist for me to proud of my pigmentation colour.

Don't think your getting my point, we are not debating the fact that it's racist, or not. The point Im trying to get accross is why does 'White Pride' stand out to being the most racist. If you do not feel this way then fair enough but Im fairly sure the majority of the forum will feel the same way I do.

If not then I must be in a bubble of my own.

 

The answer is so obvious, all other races have heavily been disgriminated, why would anyone be proud of being white unless there a racist. The slongans used by most neo-nazi like groups was "white power" not even pride. Ever heard of black power? No.

White people in South Africa are discriminated against, White people in Saudi Arabia(Along with numourous other arab nations) are widely disgriminated against. Scottish and Irish white people were heavily disgriminated against, all be-it by other white people but still. Every race has done good and bad, Why do people feel the need to single out the white race as a leader in racism.

Black Power, yes I have heard of Black power, and White power, Where in my thread do I discuss slogans from neo-nazi and Black supremicist groups? This thread is aimed at the discussion of pride surrounding race, not beleive your race is elite to any other.

People are too quick to come to conclusions based on what the media has told you throughout your life.

Because in America the white man was considered a king. While blacks were discriminated towards and treated unequally and even killed by the KKK just for being black. There's a lot of videos and documentaries on this.

Racism is still here today and although it died down a little it'll never be completely gone. Even with any other race in the united states (excluding white) there is still a huge racial issue and stereotype. But racism from whites to blacks was the worst. So for a person to say im proud to be black its just saying that even though all the racism, all the whites hating me for my skin color and all the things my people went through im still proud to be black.

Whereas if a white person was to say it, it would come off as arrogant and racist because of the past history they've had. Its not fair but thats the case in most the situation. Even today whites have a better image than any other race in America.

I dont understand why you dont get why its not seen as racist. Given all the things the white race has done to all other races other than itself, i dont see why it wouldnt be considered racist. White people as a race havnt been in the same situation as other races in terms of being discriminated against and living a harder life because of skin color. White people run the country and have always had more power than any other race, so if a person were to say "White power" it would come off extremely racist because you already run everything else so to say white power is like boasting or bragging about it.

 

thatguy, please read all of my posts, White people were and still are descriminated and racially abused in a number of countries, I named a few. My ancestors were treated FAR worse than the black slaves, My Ancestors were raped, enslaved and murdered by the English just for being Scottish, they were treat as lower class citizens. Do I demand some sort of respect from the English today, ofcourse not because no one that was there to witness it is alive today and even if they were I did not go through it. Feeling sorry for yourself over what happend to one of your ancestors, I feel is wrong and completely unjust. If that's the route were taking, the English should be pussy footing around us and be scared of english pride toward Scots and Irish. This is not an American related thread, this is a World related thread. Race has nothing to do with power. I suggest you watch some of the above guys videos and you'll get some sort of idea of how life is outside the USA.

 

The english were white.. and obviously i meant only for americans as i stated more than once in relation to america. Take note in my first sentence "Because in America the white man was considered a king.". I thought you wouldve understood that. So dont come at me saying i dont know how life is outside of the USA when clearly my text was relative to only the USA. I was not posting that in terms to the world as a whole but only a part of the world. And by no means am i feeling sorry for myself, im trying to get you to understand how it is in relation to america. Also race does have alot to do with power in the world we live in today.

 

yes i have. in the martin luthar king days there was a gay who was fed up of him and wanted to get things done violently he went around chanting "black pride" and "black power" and a shit loud of people supported him.

EDIT: Most of the history you learn in school is how bad and terrible white people where and how there the racist bastards. The white people came over to america and killed all the native americans. etc...

its all about what your tough in school. we are tough that white people were/are a terrible racist race who will do anything do wipe out anything in there way.

 

All-in-all, everyone should be proud of who they are for what they are, not what they look like or what color there skin is. But we all know that at the end of the day it will never be that way..

You clearly haven't the ability to read and digest information, I said in my last post that this is not a USA based question it is a worldly question. Race has nothing to do with power, Your president is black, 70% of the oil(Power) is owned by arabs the chinese are now a leading super power. I've just stated several things and I cannot see a clear racial divide in power, every race has power. Unlike 100's of year ago. So in the world we live in today race has nothing to do with power.

 

If you say "I'm proud to be _____", then you're racist. Why should you be proud? By saying you're proud, you're implying that your race is superior to others.

 

How is that in any way implying that there is some sort of superiority? Have you completely ignored the fact that someone may just enjoy their heritage? Accepting who you are and being proud of that fact is not racist. If I were to say that I was proud of what my ancestors did, it would still not be racist. Not every white person was a racist and the VAST MAJORITY did not even own slaves. There have been many great white people in history just as there have been many great people of any other race. Being proud of that fact is not racist, though it may be somewhat arrogant that you are piggybacking on the accomplishments of your entire race to make yourself feel better. The average person, yes even the average white person, did not have much power/control over anything. It has ALWAYS been about money. Whoever has the most money will generally have the most influence, regardless of gender, race, anything.

I am currently taking US History at the college level and this is straight from my notes (I have not researched to make sure it is 100% accurate, but I trust my teacher):

1860:
31,365,000 people in the US
11,000,000 in the South
347,525 slave holders (3%)
174,000 owned 4 or fewer slaves (1.5%)
<8,000 owned farms with 50+ slaves
<1,800 owned 100+ slaves (0.5%)
250 owned 200+ slaves
3/4 Southerners did not own a single slave
~3,000 African Americans owned slaves
~500,000 free African Americans in the South

So it is obviously not like every single white person alive today is guilty of being a slave holder/racist. None of us were alive to experience or perpetuate the existence of slavery... Holding onto the metaphorical chains of slavery does nothing but give racism a buffer.

Example - 'Im proud of my football skills' This does not mean 'I am the best football player ever.'

I don't think I've heard of anyone being branded as a neo-nazi for being proud to be white... There's a clear distinction between being proud to be white, and think that you're superior because you're white.

I think you've got the two mixed up.
