Do you NEED college to have a successful life?

It's not necessary, but it will really help you in the long run.

 

That's a tricky one. It depends what sort of career your looking for. Although if an employer sees you have any sort of degree, even if it's not in that specific sector, you have an advantage. Although, people can make a good living without going to college. Because during the time you would be in college, you are making money/building up to a business.

its not required to have successfull life, but its so worth it it will help you big time later if u needed job,... for money you can Stake in runescape xD make over $1mill/year if ur a succesfull/smart staker <-- and this is just example of some of the money-making ways..

 

I think it boosts your chance of a good life with a fair amount!

As long as your doing something that makes you happy while you're making enough to support yourself on the side, that in my eye's is a successful life.

 

With the recession on and jobs scarce some would say it is debateable as you end up with a large student loan, then with no jobs you will not be able to pay it off easily.
Then again, with what little jobs are out there, a tertiary qualification of some sort will improve your chances of getting a job.
My uncle owns 6 houses and runs a successful finance company, he only stayed in college for 1 day.

If you go to college and pay for it yourself, then no it's not.

Apprenticeship models seem to have the most effectiveness. A good apprenticeship not only gets you a degree, but gives you hands on experience (which is what most employers want), and it pays you. Instead of going in debt, you actually come out with a positive income, a college degree, and work ready.

Finding a great apprenticeship is hard, but there are options, and some of them will even pay for relocation. (See Huntington Ingalls ship building apprenticeship USA operations in Mississippi).

They may not provide the exact degree you want, but its more than the average joe gets out of high school (without the debt as well.)

 

If you're planning to work somewhere else than mc'donald, then college is your choice. No offense mc'donalds workers, I've been there too ;D

 

Unless you can creatively think outside the box and put that skill to use by coming up with some sort of innovative new business idea, college is usually the way to go.

I am enrolled in UT Austin, and transferring to UCLA next year.
It is ONLY worth it if you need to.

If you have an adamant plan for investment, surely, you don't need to go to college, I mean look at those dropouts that makes billions now.
But they are special cases, most people cannot see past what they have in front of them, nor can they set a solidified plan for their future.

Also, if you want to be a science major, you have almost no chance of being successful unless you study on your own and make an amazing invention, in which, again, you must invest time and money ingeniously.

 

in my opinion it should be your choice if you want to attend school any further after the age of 15 or 16 so my answer is no you dont need college to live a successful life no one in my family went to college but my mom and she was a teacher and my dad now is 1 of 3 owners of a large company in which 2 of my 3 siblings are employed at as workers.

Depends upon your determination to be successful, otherwise it won't really do you good if you're stubborn as a rock.

 

I believe it's worth it,
Especially if you don't really have an idea yet of what you want to do with the rest of your life,
It's a good way to prioritize and set up for the future,
But it's also a big chunk out of the pocket, unless given a scholarship or some other academic scholarship of some sort.

 

I would rather have a college degree from a reputable university than attempt to be a unqualified entrepreneur.

 

You need it. You need the qualification for work. It's worth your time. You'll always think that it's not worth, but once you get old, you'll start thinking back, how you wish that you could rewind time and study.
