Wikipedia to shut down...

Support, however I don't think it would make much of a difference unless everyone joined the bandwagon.

 

Honestly, ever since most schools banned it from use, its was bound to be shut down.

 

Def. supporting Wiki on this one. I sent an anti SOPA email yesterday. I encourage everybody to do the same.

I remember a few years ago they were appealing for donations so they didn't shut down. And I didn't know schools stopped it?

 

Good. The more websites that join the blackout the better. Now we need Google to confirm they will do it as well as Reddit and Wikipedia (if they officially agree to it).

I support Wikipedia. If it shuts down Google will lose some of its money distirbuting from Wikipedia. Wikipedia is viewed by millions of people everyday of its neat information.

People will go ape shit if this bill passes. It's not fair to all the people who don't pirate that their freedoms get taken away.

On the other hand, I donated $20 to Wikipedia, you should too (if you have benefited from this website).

 

Yeah, hopefully if Wikipedia does have a blackout it will create a domino affect.

I already sent Congress a letter opposing SOPA. I think the Blackout may be a very effective idea, even though it would majorly suck not having access to Wikipedia (which I pretty much use daily) for a whole day.

Imagine all the millions of people who probably don't even know what SOPA is who will end up using Wikipedia during that day that the site is down? They will all be informed of exactly what is going on, and subsequently redirected to a site where they can fill out a form to send to their local congressman, or sign a petition. This could potentially bring in millions more signatures/letters in support for opposing SOPA.

I really hope some other sites follow in their footsteps... Imagine if YouTube or Facebook shut down for an entire day in opposition? There would be tens, possibly hundreds of millions of people who would be outraged and would be forced into learning about SOPA and would likely hop on the bandwagon and sent some angry letters off. I support this fully!

 

If Google and Facebook did it the top three sites online would be down and I think people would get the message.

 

This is when I wouldn't mind an attack by a hacker group such as anonymous on 1 or more government websites. It would be great to have them take down all government sites in direct opposition to SOPA.
