I sent my congressmen that email, and I support if it helps stop internet tyranny of SOPA!

 

Imagine Google participated in the blackout, it would be chaos in the interwebz.

I use that all the time, it's bs if it shuts down...

Wikipedia is really useful and helpful as well as I use it a lot. Why does Wikipedia shut down for a day?

 

Hey, i have no idea what SOPA actually is besides the fact that we wouldnt be protected anymore
Anyone care to explain to me what it is in like a summary form?

OT: ill support this because from the only thing i know, i like to be protected.

 

Ill support , woodcut just put in SOPA act on youtube there are a couple very good videos explaining.

OT: I suppose it's a good idea, but it would definitely have more of an affect if websites like Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Google, or something like that, was taking Wiki's place, or better yet doing it with them.

I'll support, but like Meeder said, it would probably be more affected if Twitter, Google, Youtube, FaceBook, etc shut down for that day.

I don't see how this would show the government anything. If these websites were to already be shut down if the SOPA was passed, wikipedia would probably just be helping people get used to the idea of not having the site anymore. The same goes for reddit. It's not like the governement will care. They are just trying to piss the people off enough to do something about this. Since everyone insists on talking and not actually doing anything.

"Demand Progress set up an online petition where you can donate $1 to Wikipedia to help cover the costs of the blackout." Don't they already ask for money from users? Sounds like an excuse to get some revenue.

 

I support. Hopefully some other large sites will follow.
