Why listen to skrillex?

Why listen to skrillex/bassnecter/borgore when you have shit like this

Take a minute to listen. Have patience. Music shouldn't have to whore out your interest with wobble bass and drops. Good music goes in hand with good music. Shitty music copulates with shitty music. have fun with your skrillex korn collaborations. I'll stick with james blake and bon iver

 

The second one was really nice. I don't really ever listen to that style of music (dubstep or whatever it's called), I guess the closest thing I listen to would be the Flying Lotus

 

Flying lotus is awesome, saw then in new haven CT. but dont hate on dubstep/EDM. you have your preferred music, and i have mine.

 

What? I'm not hating on dubstep/EDM at all. I'm hating on shitty music. I'm just tired of people equating skrillex with dubstep. I've posted (and will continue to post) good dubstep. Widen your horizons, some dubstep doesn't have wobbles.

I know you might not think skrillex is not dubstep, but it is. its just different dubstep. im all for old school dubstep, going to see rusko in feb, but skrillx has just put a different face on dubstep, not saying i enjoy or hate it

Agreed. I've never been able to get much into Dubstep. There is definitely some good stuff out there, but Shrillex, Deadmau5, etc just suck and are extremely overrated.

Besides I would choose Drum N Bass over Dubstep any day, even though I don't really listen to it much either.

 

Everyone has there own opinions and tastes, ones like is anothers dislike.

 

A lot of people enjoy tons of bass and drops and wobbles.

What you listed is mostly soft stuff that you could study to.

Skrillex is basically following how rap is today, lots of bass, but he's just all bass.

 

Skriller is basically as flight said all bass, but i wouldn't compare it into rap since skrillex is ridicilous!

 

Skrillex is a genre of dubstep, Brostep. Most people that don't know a lot about it / new to dubstep listen to him. I'm personally not a fan at all. Or Dr. Dre Beats headphones for that matter.

 

Skrillex is garbage, its a shame he's the spearhead of the whole Dubstep genre to the general public. There are tons of artists who are much better. In my opinion, Skrillex has 2 good songs, and that's it.

 

What? How is my stuff "soft"? I study to it, I sleep to it, I dance to it, I fuck to it. Skrillex isn't all bass, its just synth/autotune leads with wobble drops

Exactly. I think its great that lots of people now listen to dubstep, but it just sucks that skrillex and shitty brostep is the most played.

Skrillex isn't the best by far. I like remixes of other songs by UKF.
Everyone thinks Skrillex is the best for Dubstep... They don't even know.

 

God Skrillrex sounds like fucking shit , All the kids that listen to it should be taken out back and shot ..

 

Dubstep is too mainstream now. It was WAYYYYY better when you had to torrent it and it was underground. Now I can go on iTunes and buy an album.

It isnt all about the amount of bass or whatever, it's the effect of the song. Skrillrex is a true musical genius (easily noticeable by many non-EDM fans loving him). I prefer the dub in Skillrex Cinema mix over almost all other dub ive ever heard...

 

It seems like you guys are just hating on Skrillex for the same reason people hate on Justin Beiber. You are hating because he got famous and is making money off the music. Skrillex has brought in a lot of faces to dubstep and when they get in and say 'Hey this dubstep thing isn't bad after all' and they start looking for more. He gets them in the door and then they find more dubstep. If I am going to listen to dubstep I want something hard, fast, and lots of bass. I want to listen to something that has energy; that goes for any music I listen to.

 

Dubstep is such a huge genre. Skrillex's "hard, fast, lots of bass" bullshit has a stranglehold on dubstep, and its hurting her. Any dub that doesn't have "filthy drops" etc is ignored. As a genre progresses it ceratinly evolves/changes, but skrillex/brostep is stifling change and encouraging conformity. Bieber is completely irrelevant, I don't waste my time arguing about him. I'm not a 11 year old girl (no offense, sorry if you're 12 or even a guy). I hope dubstep becomes mainstream, but it can't really develop if its constantly overshadowed by skrillex.

I disagree. I know many EDM producers who could be considered (geniuses), Skrillex isn't one of them. He creates exciting, surprisingly melodic songs with a huge bass drop about 45-75 seconds in. Its just a synth lead, a build up to the drop, some random incoherent auto-tuned shout, and then BOOM BASS DUB DUB WOB WOB WIIBBBLE BASSS YEAH SKRILLEX DUBSTEP BOOM BAH BOOM WAAAAAH WOB WUB WUB

 

I've heard 4 decent dubstep songs. Everything else is just distorted instruments that sound horrible.
