    It's an electronical serial number. The phone is assigned one at the manufacturers. A bad ESN means the phone is locked, and cannot be used.

    So basically, because of the bad BSN, the phone is a dud. You'll probably be able to play the games and applications already on the phone, and because it's a Wifi Capable phone you'll be able to download some things. So unless you want, well, a bad, but cheap iPod touch I wouldn't bother going near it.
