You wanna fuck shit up, buy out ALL of a single highly-used commodity. Buy like, all of the maple logs put for sale in the g.e. for a month

High alch has the same effect as buying it and banking it.

 

It still exists therefore it will inevitably one day be available to the market again, unless the owner is permabanned. Conclusion; completely different.

 

Video's right, getting rid of rares would just make the prices fluctuate with supply and demand changing. Getting rid of one of the key items in the RuneScape world like an ore or log makes prices shoot up to some dramatic affect, but then people would see getting that particular resource as a fantastic idea to make money and then the supply would increase and demand would lower.

Also yeah, there are limits to how much you can get of an item in the GE. You've gotta admit, to an extent Jagex have there economy sorted reasonably well. If worst came to worse, they could probably just add a few million of something to the GE to fix it up.

 

I think the best troll would be for everyone here to just give me a rare and I will never use my account again.

But yea, if someone does have 100bil+ (Which there are people!!) they should take a year and do what Video said in buying out a commodity. Something that is used everyday but isn't really botable.

 

No, wouldn't it be easier just leaving the rares in the bank? It has the same effect and preserves the rares.

I think someone did this with shards (About 6-12 months ago) except he Dumped like 3B shards and the prices crashed.

Except it didn't work, as shards are at a fixed price of 25gp each..... You can buy thousands at once, like, millions.

 

Why would someone wanna say "Oh let me make $100 - $2000 + disappear just so I can say haha I changed gp prices by 100k for everyone!"

Letting them just sit in your bank achieves the same thing as alching them, so I guess if you had enough money and just retired you'd be doing everyone a favor.

On 5-10 mules, you could have offers in on say yews or maples, or lobs.

Within 6 months, surely prices would have been effected?
