New competition

This is just a graphics artist being picky, but the current header doesn't fit the color scheme and the font's serifs and kerning are distracting. You could hold a competition to produce the best "logo" for sythe.org. The winner would be given a fun rank.

You'd just need to supply the background, then let someone (preferably Alt or Verts) eliminate some unlikely choices and arbitrate some voting options, and finally let users cast votes between the best five or ten.

You'd get a good repository of attractive logos to choose from or alternate between. It would increase interest and activity in the GFX forum. It would give users a chance to influence a big part of Sythe and create real community involvement. It would decrease the bounce rate overall to have a very attractive logo and the subsequent vote would offer insight into which logo would best reach Sythe's demographics.

Older examples from Jansen, Tribal, Tyro, Phevil, Atomic, and w00t respectively...

I was about to tell you to just go ahead and make the competition yourself, but since this obviously needs Official support, Why don't you make a thread to start and have a mod/admin make it official when it's decided upon. Anyhow, Support.

 

I think Alt or Verts should coordinate it, and if it's going to be done I think something should be posted in Comm General.

 

I totally support, out of those suggestions, I think they suit this theme far better than our current one, getting a new banner to suit this theme would be a great idea.

It's better off having official support first. Besides, what if the administrators say that a new banner isn't necessary?

sounds good while the current banner looks good its been there for a while and every now and then a change is good

 

I'd love a new banner personally.

 

It can't hurt to have a competition and Sythe can view the entries and choose (Or if it's his wishes allow the community to choose.)

Just wondering, would anyone think that having maybe, say, 3 or 4 logos that change when the website is reloaded, a little bit like some of the moderators UI's, would look tacky? I reckon it'd be cool, maybe a bit unprofessional, but still cool.

Defiantly support this, I wouldn't be entering as i suck with GFX. Id like to see a new banner for once though

 

I think they look good, but only because we're simply used to the current font/version we have now. In a few years time we'd upgrade the new one, so meh, I'd just rather not change it.

 

If it were to happen I would enter, but I believe just a simple change of color would make the banner fit more. I believe the current typographical layout works fine, just the colors need altered.
