    It's sad to see but tbh, they are probably better off living there than on the streets.

    In all probability, only a very, very slight fraction of people live like this.

    A practical use of cages to make bunk beds. I can't see how they're trapped inside that block though from those photo's.

    Cages=/=No Freedom

    For instance this photo...

    ...shows the man walking toward an exit.

    A picture of one guy sleeping in a cage. I guess this will let socialists worldwide think their actions and ideals are justified.

    Only thing is, from a picture you can't tell exactly what is/has been going on. For example, if you see a picture of a family at a beach and they are all smiling, you don't know what their day has actually been like.

    By the title my first impression was that this is degrading. However its not like these cages are locked.. they aren't prisoners. They are just making the best out of what they can. Better to live in a cage then nowhere at all. At least you can put cardboard on the top of a cage to somewhat protect yourself from rain.

    I really don't get what the point of the cages are though lol. Its a cage inside of a building? Whats the point of the cage then?

    Am I meant to sympathise here? These are normal living conditions for the majority of lower class people in Hong Kong. They live in these conditions because the country is overpopulated and they have no other choice. Western media often likes to compare our society to Asian/African societies, even though common ideals and living conditions are completely inconsequential to our own. Oh well, whatever makes the media an extra buck.

    These people aren't locked up. And they certainly aren't the only ones in the world living like this. Realise that they are used to not having any better, and so they perceive these conditions as normal. Get over it and enjoy what you have.

    I would go for this If I had to. A cage properly outfitted with a mattress-like thing and some corrugated iron on the roof would work quite nicely.
    Definitely better than sitting on the streets and getting rained on, and it makes a cheap and portable bedroom. Maybe even a kitchen if it's a big cage.
