Therefore you cannot use your balance (gotten from gift cards) to buy other gift cards. At least that's what I understand

Right, I've already done this once. This is gift card balance from a refund. It's different.

I can use it on whatever.

It's not actually a "gift card" per say. It's just a refund..that i in the form of store credit.
