I am very careful when it comes to staking. I might stake 4m one day, but I make sure I don't go beyond that.

Someone that I know, though, was staking to get a white (or I think he was trying to). In 1 day, he won a 1b stake, and a friend of his won a red and around 2b more. He lost it all on the next day.

I have the same cycle as you going on. Get cleaned, then come back up from nothing to a larger bank than I ever had before, just to get cleaned again. That has happened at least 8 times for me since free trade returned. Biggest clean ever was from a 6B bank. It was all gone in 7 stakes. Now I rebuilt to 3B, taking a break from staking by getting some stats and quests up.

Yes I have many working systems that yield up to 65% chance to win, but most of them take patience to find someone to stake against.

But the majority of my winnings and pretty much all losses were in maxed boxing. Other types of fights work much better but being bored and having to opponents leads to going boxing. And no matter how hard I try, I end up rageboxing for my bank at some point, which I shouldn't.

Ive never staked due to the amount of training you need to achieve maxed stake stats. A big 'addiction' for me was dicing. I started with around 40M got to 400m then greed got the best of me and i lost it all.

My staking cycle is very similar to yours. Although I don't have my own personal maxed main which I stake on, I rent from people here on sythe for 1m an hour or 5m per day.

I'm not an expert of any sort of glitches or "skill" as you may call it and I'm not really a fan of switching styles. Hell, I don't even care who gets the first hit and if I'm lagging or not. Keep in mind I only box. I believe it is all luck.

But I'll say one thing. The trick to staking is to know how to limit yourself. Every time you want to stake you need to set a goal for yourself. Now noobs are going to say "ZOMG my goal is to make bills" No kids, you won't make bills; you might make it to that point but you'll eventually lose it all. You need to actually set a goal for yourselves. The goal your setting will solely depend on your starting cashpile. Are you starting with around 30m? You should make a goal to stop at 100m that day, and don't dare go past it! Once you achieve the goal for the day, get out of the duel arena!

Then take a break and come back to staking another time BUT always keep a daily goal for that day where you will tell yourself that you are going to stop. If you can't stop or control yourself, you shouldn't be staking.

Not really true. Your odds of winning are not becoming better "tomorrow" or after you "quit for the day", they are always the same in the same circumstances, be it after winning 8 times in a row or losing 8 times in a row.

Sith, the only time I ever cashed out my profits was before free trade removal in 2007. I had a ranged pure with 70 ranged and 90 hp (that was before soul wars, I used pest control). I made about 2.2B slowly but without any significant losses because of staking much worse accounts like 80 ranged 75 hp... which I sold for around $6000. Now I don't think I would cash out for anything less than 10B at today's market value.

    First off, you're a good writer/story teller.

Secondly, this exact thing happened to me in 06/07.

I went through about 200-400 bucks renting an account, then buying the necessary gold to stake with and then losing and repeating the process.

Greed always kicked in when I should have stopped and basically left me broke.

However, if I had the chance/money, I could easily see myself spending over a grand and losing that kind of money from staking.

The feeling you get from staking and winning and losing and winning again is amazing. Such an adrenaline rush which pushes me and others to buy more RSGP or bot.

    Interesting story though.

    Cool story bro.

No actually, that was a cool story :D I really admire the hardwork and dedication you put into your accounts, and your tales of staking, both the losses AND wins, are truly inspiring :) I really, really want to start staking a little bit on the side for fun, but I don't really have the means to do so at the moment without a ton of work.

I can either get 99 defence on my Barrows pure and turn him into a maxed main. This would be the fastest method by far, but then I would need to create a new type of "pure" which is a ton of work. OR, I could take my old main (90/96/90) and turn him into a maxed boxer aswell, and maybe 99 magic for mbing as well. I don't know. I would love to learn though.

Are there any major things you think people should know before they start staking? I hear lots of talk about things like PID and getting the first hit etc, stuff that gives you all sorts of advantages in staking, but I'm not sure where I can go to learn about those sorts of things. Is there any advice you could offer me?

Honestly you can not compare dicing to staking. Dicing you are usually looking at a 40-45% win chance. Staking you are looking at 50-65%, depending on rules and your skill.

Your opponent has to be pretty inexperienced for such odds to come into play, though. If you're talking about dealing unanswered hits with movement on.

    Cool, thanks man :)

I see maxed boxers doing HUGE stakes all the time, but are there alot of people who still do small stakes? The reason being - I am considering renting or borrowing a maxed boxer and putting a small amount of cash on it, like 10-30M and just doing really small stakes on it to see if I can come out with a profit in the end.

What are your thoughts on this?

That's a good plan to start with. Staking smaller amounts first makes it quite a lot more pleasant for me personally as well. If I see myself making profit at smaller stakes, it might eventually get more comfortable to move to higher stakes.

Someone mentioned about setting a top limit for each day where one should stop staking upon reaching it. I think this isn't very useful. One should rather set a limit which they won't go under. That's what I do and it's been working great. I haven't been cleaned for a long time.

You can never tell when the streak ends though. It's impossible to tell any of it. One should just count on their feeling and what's comfortable with them rather than strict code and methods in my opinion. :) Of course it affects the decisions and goals if one is after profit or just the fun and excitement of dueling. :)
