So after recently having my signature removed for having an oversized signature (Because I wasn't aware it was oversized) - I have come to an idea.

It is really difficult to judge an oversize signature by just eyesight -
mine was close to the maximum allowed size, yet it was still too big.

    (Here)

I suggest that sometime similar to the avatar is put it. (I.E. it won't let you make it too big.)

Also, there should be some rule clarification saying that signature violations never expire - I was caught off-guard there too ^_^

I don't think there is a way to make it so all your images, links, quotes etc. will not let you exceed the 350 pixels in height. You have to be careful to check the dimensions of your signature, and re-size it if needed. Quotes also. Just assume that if your signature is something like 340 in height, you can't fit more than one line of text underneath/above it.

Anyway, I'll talk to n4n0 about the infraction. Hopefully we can give you one last chance.

It's only a two week removal, so it's not the end of the world.
I've been able to fit a size six line of text under it before, so I didn't think fitting two quote tags would be a problem.

Ah okay in that case, I'll leave it be. Just gotta be more careful in future man. You could ask if not sure, but as far as your suggestion goes, I don't think it's possible to automatically limit the size.

Is it possible to just add a rule/note saying that signature infractions/warnings are permanent then? :S

    *How Signature Violations are handled:

    First Violation: Warning
Second Violation: 2 Week Signature Disable
Third Violation: 3 Month Signature Disable
    Fourth Violation: Permanent Disable

It is permanent once you hit the fourth violation, and it should be assumed that it doesn't expire.

Well, but I thought that it would be four violations within a specific period of time :/

There's no excuse for not knowing the rules, especially since it's not your first time having too-large a signature. Your knowledge isn't expected to expire over time, so why should the rolling punishments for continual over sized signature incidents? I can understand people overlooking the rule once, but after that it's just laziness or complete apathy from the rules....

That's not really what I meant. Both times I overlooked the rule, my signature was no more than a few pixels too tall. What I'm saying is that it's VERY difficult to judge how large it is when you use quotes/text, and the signature that got removed was possibly 10 minutes old, which hadn't given me time to check it yet :/

I think that's bullshit that a signature violation never expires...

And I think if there were just a box that was the maximum size that a signature can be on the page where people upload them. That way people can just compare the sizes and there's no excuse for violating it.

That's why you "preview signature" before saving it. I personally use the image that I sent you as a guideline for my own signature as well. I'm not above the rules and I ensure my sig remains within the rules as well. It's not difficult to make a 350x650 image and hold that over your signature to test its size before saving it. That's what I do.

If we apply signature violations I think they need to be a lot more severe. You should get it after the first warning.

    First Violation: Warning
    Second Vilation: Month Signature Disable
Third Violation: Permanent Disable and Week Ban
