Never used RS, can someone please explain to me how gold is transferred?

I have some very basic questions, and I'm hoping someone can help me out with them.

If I just start a brand new account how long would it take me to build up to where I could trade gold? And, I thought I read somewhere gold trading isn't allowed, so how complicated is it to accomplish a trade? Thank you.

 

You have to make your account members and then you can trade gold. Gold trading isn't allowed under Jagex's rules. And lastly, its easy to accomplish a trade.

You buy "membership" which basically gives you access to more features in the game.

If I just make a new account and upgrade can I start trading, or do I have to play through the game a bit? I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a high level account to trade gold, because I don't want to play the game

 

You don't have to play the game at all - all you have to do is make an account, and buy a membership once. After that you will always be able to trade any amount of gold you want.

In what concept are you referring to transferring gold?

A gold merchant would transfer their gold to their buyer's ingame via a single trade or stake.

Transferring gold between your accounts is quite simple, which requires the user to dual log [log into 2 runescape accounts at once] and trade the gold over from 1 account to another.

Due to a recent update to counter RWT aka Real World Trading which prohibits the transfer of gold out of a account on new accounts they have set a 25k limit. This is the maximum you can give away in a trade. When you purchase membership this limit will be removed forever.

You should be careful if you trade high amounts like hundreds of mils, since Jagex can roll back your gold and you will end up with nothing.
