Games Similar to Runescape?

Quick story, I've played RS for 8ish years on and off, but never really spent to much time in it.

With the recent events, it has really just seem to lose its fun. First, they switched to the trade limit, which created opportunity for players to earn billions of billions of dollars, then they switched back and now everything is high priced, and gold is incredibly low priced. I've learned that playing a game non-legit takes the fun out of it over time; therefore, I don't really want to buy anymore gold or bot. But at the same time, I've been wealthy enough where earning 1m/hr (or 50c an hour if you really look at it) just isn't enjoyable.

So... I'm basically looking for other games? I feel like there should be some fairly new games that are out and or upcoming ones that will be similar (and better) than RS.

First, let me tell you some things I like about RS.

-The Simplicity of the items: Basically, everyone knows what everything is after a few weeks of playing TOPS. This is really cool because it is fun to strive towards stuff.

-The simplicity of combat: Well, because of the simplicity of the weapons/magic/prayer/combat skills, it is easy to know what strategies to use. I've watched things like WOW PVP and it just doesn't look as fun or interesting, and almost too easy?

-The ability to "outsmart" the game.
One of the things I've noticed about Runescape, which is unlike other games (like Rift/WOW/Skyrim) is that you can either be good at the game by just grinding, or making money and buying the best training gear; by playing smart.
I don't think I articulated that well, but hopefully you guys get the idea. Basically like, if I'm playing skyrim (I know it's not a MMO) it doesn't really require too much intellect... There are no "creative" ways to play. You pick up a sword, go fight monsters and buy better swords. In runescape, the routes to getting the better swords are innumerable, and it really adds to the feel of the game IMO.

-The economy: Basically, my favorite part about the game. What seems different about Runescape is the rarity of the best items, which, coupled with the simplicity of the items, makes it very fun to play. TBH, I haven't played Rift or WOW, but when I see my friends play it, it seems much more combat driven. I love how in RS you can be economy/combat/skills driven.

Knight Online.....It has beast PVP, Rare items and you need a LOT of money to be good at it...

BUT last time I played there were so many bots it was crazy..

 

The starwars one looks cool... But I kinda like the whole midevil thing!

I guess like... I really like Runescape but I wish they would just reset everything (obviously I know this will never happen)! It was WAYYYY Better Pre-Trade limit!

 

I was "once upon a time" a mod for Knight Online, great game. I can't relate it with Runescape though because it has more of a WoW plot.

Although it does not have a PvP feature, Stronghold (1, 2 & 3) are the best medieval computer games.

 

Well there's obviously tons of different private servers out there that are basically just like Runescape, just a bit less shiny and less enjoyable in my opinion. From what I hear the game League of Legends is amazing, some of my friends play and I have heard nothing but good things. I might start playing that soon.

 

I've heard that knight online is a good game.

Yeah, the starwars one looks pretty sick but so does Skyrim.

 

I highly recommend looking at a downloaded MMO such as SWTOR, WoW or even Guild Wars. In my opinion you cannot even compare RuneScape with these games because they are just so different.

 

Single player games can only go so far.

 

Guild Wars 2 looks so sick, I'm looking forward to that.

IMO it's Medieval or GTFO.

 

tbh skyrim is the only game that has come close, also many good private servers, most wont last too long tho... and also get boring after like 2 days since theres no accomplishment

 

Runescape is truly one of a kind.
