Hey Stui here Im curious as to how much sythe's expenses are per year or month? Obvius ones are Hosting Vbulletin Domain just wondering about how much sythe's costs are per year or month? and how much is donated per year or month is there anything that i have forgotten?
Only Sythe/Matthew can tell you this. The domain registration per year does not cost much, good hosting costs a little bit, but still not a ton. Vbulletin licence cost 200 USD or something like that, and I think it is a one time fee. Sythe makes a profit from Donations and Ads.
This question is directed to someone who has a wealth of knowledge in the IT field and Market, How much would Sythe sell for? No, I do not want the prices based off those websites which predict an exaggerated yet inaccurate sale prediction.
I assume the hosting is expensive cause all of the ddos protection and so on. Plus, imagine the traffic sythe has per month. Thousands of users per day, new users joining everyday and currently theres 424 people on the site.
I'd say around 3-8K yearly. But honestly, I have no idea, the actual server plus proxy servers are unknown to me, how many, and what specs.
The server and protection and stuff does cost quite a chunk of change. Richard doesn't make as much off of donations as people tend to think. A large amount of it does go to the server.
Meh. I don't know specifically but most people believe that hosting costs next to nothing and they are very wrong. After donations increased (a while ago now), Richard was able to afford a better server and our current protection. Maybe donations have continued to climb since then so maybe he is making a bit more than he was before but I really don't know.
Our DDOS protection costs out the ass to put it nicely. Also richard has to pay taxes on all donations received.
I'd also like to know the answer to this. I'm going to assume that he is incurred taxes because Sythe is an alternate income for the owner.
Because Sythe isn't a non-profit organization and isn't tax exempt. That is why he has to pay taxes on them.
For vBulletin, you purchase an owned license for $160 back when I used to own them then a month before a year, you'd have to renew your license with $20 each time. So, that's the vBulletin coverage. As for the name, it's about $10/Year, so...that's less than $1 a month. The other information can only be told by Matthew and Sythe themselves.
I'm hoping that the taxes on donations is lower than the tax for selling virtual goods and services. If it's not, uhm, rename them to subscriptions and call it a virtual good? That simple >.<.
If Richard receives big amounts of money, he should get an Off Shore bank account, so he would not need to pay the taxes.
You have to claim all non-negligible income, and I can imagine the donations he gets are far from non-negligible.
