    Bumping?

TL;DR Version: Bump rule needs to be reevaluated.

I want to take this time to thank you for reading this feedback thread. This is a very touchy issue to many of us that use this website to buy and sell virtual goods, or anything else you may sell. Please refer to this to see how to rule is enforced now, compared to how it was back then.

Honestly, I had no idea that this rule was being enforced in its current fashion until I received a few infractions for delete-bumping. That changed everything. Now delete-bumping and someone bumping your thread now considered spam and is punishable by infraction points. I don't know what lead to this rule change, but I don't agree with current rule. I would like to see it reevaluated.

Here's my take on it. Whenever you bump a thread and the section is really busy, I think 24 hours is a long time to wait until you can bump your thread again especially when you're very active and dedicated to selling on Sythe. Sometimes your thread won't even get looked at. By the time you will be able to bump your thread again, it's already on page 5.

I know some of you may be thinking that I'm a very impatient guy. That's not really the case. I guess I was just used to the traditional system, but it worked alot better than the current system in my opinion.

If you was on for 5-6 hours a day you was only allowed to bump your thread only once, and no one else posted on it, you'll be pretty angry about the rule change. I've bumped one of my threads a while back and it was already on page 2 in less than a hour.

Kerokerocola made some good points here and here.

    Thoughts?

    Bumping?

I think the current rule is fine. It has already been changed once recently from 48 to 24, and 24 hours is a perfect balance. If people are wanting to purchase from you then they will post or else you just need to be patient and wait the bump time out. If everyone is bumping every two to three hours what is the selling sections going to be but a lot of bump spam.

    Bumping?

The rule was already recently debated amongst staff, hence why it was remade.

You are allowed to post more than once per 24 hours. You are NOT allowed to DOUBLE POST (two successive posts, ie. one after another).

If, say, you bump in the morning, then someone else posts a few hours later, you're allowed to respond to them and by doing so, bump your thread. The main purpose of this is to stop people bumping their topics over and over without other people even posting on their thread (hence they keep getting pushed to the top of the forum).

Delete bumping will warrant an infraction, since it achieves the same effect as double posting essentially.

There is still ongoing discussion about this rule, bear with us for a little while.

The points I made were moot with most of the staff's opinion. Believe me, this debate has been going on since I was reinstated in October.

    Bumping?

    Kero summed it up nicely.

We've been actively discussing/debating a solid guideline for bumping for at least a month now. The problem is there's too much room for misinterpretation with this kind of rule. People like to read and interpret the rules we come up with differently which is a challenge for us. We may intend it one way, but a user will interpret it a completely different way, get infracted, and rage.
