No Ads for Donators

idea's not too bad, but do ads really bother you that much? I hardly notice them.

 

Remove the ads for donators! The one at the top is fine, but the one in the bottom is annoying. Support.

 

5 Dollars would easily cover a lifetime worth of ads for 1 person.
Also, I feel like only new members actually click on those. A more seasoned Sythe (more likely to donate) user probably wouldn't even consider using Gold4Fun.

 

AdBlock Plus and your done.

If you dont like them then just block them, they help the site for the people that find it over google searches.

 

Uh no? If you're an active member of the site, you could rack up $5 + easily weekly for Sythe with the ads there.

 

I was under the impression that you had to click on the ad to get the majority of the value.

 

Evidently you don't know how ads work, I'm fairly certain they don't use adsense BUT, people pay them a massive amount for ads. I'm not 100% sure how the payments work because I don't know what type of advertising they're doing and how much it costs.

But, with adsense on even a somewhat dead website 15ish people (Knowing from experience) you can make $25~ a week. I currently run a website that has maybe 30 posts a day, and get 4 ad clicks a day. I've made $22 this week.

Since Sythe PROBABLY uses ads that people pay for monthly (instead of page views / clicks) ^ I think.
They'd be paid probably around $300~ monthly by EACH ad only because of the amount of page views & clicks the ad's get.

If ALL donators turned them off, that would be a MASSIVE drop in page views / clicks for the ads. Meaning people wouldn't pay as much for the ad spots, in the end making Sythe not gain as much money as they could.

I see no reason for them to implement this as ads do absolutely no harm to anyone. Sythe would be losing a lot of potential money if they approve this suggestion.

This would be a good way for Sythe to lose a lot of potential money, everyone who agrees with approving this suggestion needs to look more into it.


Edit @ your edit: That's for adsense, I don't believe they use adsense. I'm pretty sure people just pay them monthly for their ads. If they didn't get as many page views (Meaning people actually seeing the ads) / clicks on the ads people would not waste their money advertising on Sythe.

 

There's no way I support this, sorry. But I offer 2 possibilities around it.

$5 donation (Even if you have donated before) to remove ads. Like an add-on
Use an adblocker, but that doesn't really help the site.

 

I like the idea. All of the reasons people have voted against it (so far) are uninformed. High-end donors constitute a tiny percent of Sythe users; the revenue lost would be negligible but it could give people who care about the site a reason to donate a bit more. I think it's a fine idea but it would require some unnecessary work, so I don't strongly support it.

Also, anybody suggesting adblock as an alternative either doesn't understand adblock or doesn't care that many sites rely upon it. I never use it.

 

I'm indifferent to removing the ads. I hardly even notice them and nothing would change really if they were removed, at least for me. However it certainly seems that it could be another perk for the donations, which could only be better for Sythe. The revenue lost will definitely be made up in the difference of donators, so I guess I'll support.

 

I could totally care less if they are there or not, its not like they are really intrusive anyways.

How about the option for like a recurring monthly donation? $5 a month for ad-free site or something. That should more than cover the lost revenue

 

I don't the ad's bother people much, but if it did, they would have done something about it.

This would be the only possible way I would support this idea. A reoccuring fee would be like a reoccuring ad fee, therefore hopefully covering the cost, or making more revenue.

 

They don't bother me, and the people that buy the advertising space don't pay for it to be hidden, and the money goes to keep Sythe running.

Do the math, it would not. Some of the people and even some of the donators would still see the ads.

 

No support. They are not intrusive so I don't see a need to.

Call me crazy but I doubt there is anyone bothered by the ads THAT MUCH, that they would pay an extra $60 a year to not see them.

 

No support, they are there so website creates a revenue to stay alive. They dont even make a big difference.. theres only four.
