Goods while MMing

Hey guys,

Recently I MMed a service trade, while I was holding the cash, it got reset by Jagex, but I realised I just can't tell the guy the money disappeared. It was my fault for massive direct trading.

I think is unfair with whoever uses the MM service. I will be editing my layout too.

Why am I suggesting this?
I've saw it before in other threads, even new people who is going to MM. It leaves a lot of room for abuse. I know I could have told them that I lost it, but I would feel like scamming them.

This should not be allowed. If you somehow lose the goods while MMing, you have to pay it, simple.

EDIT with n4n0's feedback: If you have proof that money/goods was reset WHILE MMing (video) you should not pay it, not your fault.

 

I don't know much about the markets but it would be silly for middle men to have to pay back money that Jagex removed. >_>.

 

I'm being honest when I say it got removed, but what if I was MMing a 1B trade and I just lie about it and say that it got removed?

 

Okay. That is an issue... Maybe the simplest way is to repay the debt.

 

As far as "Resets" go, I agree, unless you have video proof of the reset you should be held liable. Lucky for me, I record every trade I do, the entire trade, so I'd have my own ass covered (I suggest you do the same )

BUT, if you cannot, without a doubt, prove that you were reset or banned, then you should be held liable for repaying anything that was lost.

 

The trade lasted days... can't record that much. But I record every normal trade.

I totally agree with N4N0 - as long as you have proof that your account was reset, you should not have to pay any money back.

 

There is no way to prove this at all though, we're talking about holding money over a long period of time for middlemanning. There's nothing you can do but to refuse to middleman any kind of large held amounts to be not responsible for any cash rollbacks.

 

I agree that the Middle Man should have to pay for lost goods caused by Jagex events like Resets and account locks/bans. Why? because your volunteering to be a middle man to keep a trade safe and when you agree to MM you and the keeper of the money. Think of it like this, if someone lends you something and you lose it or it breaks, you still have to pay for it even though you might not have done anything you were the person responsible in the scenario.

If you dont like the risk, dont MM because the whole point of the MM is to keep a trade safe so the money ISN'T lost. This may also be a good thing and a wake up call for some people who MM to be more careful with what they are doing and take steps to make sure peoples money is safe at all times.

 

There are ways to prevent rollbacks. I have gone 10+ months since February 1st when free trade came out without a single rollback. I have had upwards of 30b on my accounts for days without any issues. Really, if you get rolled back, you somehow got yourself flagged by Jagex and they probably locked your account a few times before the reset. There are ways to avoid this.

Also as MM you should assume liability. Or just refuse these trades outright. This is why I don't hold gp for more than hour

If I video your RSGP for PayPal trade with me being a middleman, and my account suddenly gets kicked off RuneScape servers holding the RSGP, then I log in with nothing a few seconds afterwards... that's pretty much proof.

 

This kind of evidence is when Jagex takes direct action during the middleman. The kind of middle man TBT is talking about happens during a long extended period of time you can't film your bank 24/7 on Runescape staying logged in, keeping eye on your cash stack seeing if it gets rolled back or not.

Kinda agree with this.
Although it is different because most of the time people ASK you to MM, you don't ask them. And they are also doing the service for free when there are people who charge for their services. If something goes wrong the MM should have some sort of evidence. If not they should give the traders a partial 'refund' if not in full.
I believe only high trusted MM's and OMMs can have that disclaimer on their thread.
Because then anyone can just start a MM service and claim to have lost what was being traded.

 

That's completely unfair. Some OMMs would abuse this to no end if given the chance.
The perfect answer to this is n4n0's suggestion that you must have complete video evidence.
