Okay, so I've just recently been inspired to attempt to work at a decent physique. I've never done any srs working out before nor have I dieted in my life. I'm 17 years old and my body type is ectomorph, my eating habits are pretty bad and unhealthy but I do exercise a lot and enjoy it. Basically, I just need tips and advice in bodybuilding for beginners. Currently about 6'3"-6'4" and 70-72kg. Anything will help cos I literally know nothing.

tl;dr need tips for a skinny teenager who wants to build a decent physique

I do not bodybuild, but during the summertime I built a work routine for myself where I would swim every morning and rotate between biking and running, gradually building up to 15 Km runs and 50 km bikes (I have a racing bike). All this was possible due to the people around me that kept me going. The morale of the story is to seek a partner that you can work with, it helps you out a lot, pushes you to your limits and keeps you motivated to not just give up after a month or two. A couple of months ago my friend started going to the gym before school and wanted someone to go with him, since no one wanted to get up that early he started to work out with people at the gym or trainer if need be. So don't be afraid to seek help from the trainers, they know better then those people youll find on the Internet and remember to try and find someone. Hope I could help.

If you want to gain muscle mass the best way is to ensure you are taking in about 2500-3000 calories per day, and include an addition protein/weight gainer shake. The shake is best to take 30 mins before a workout with milk, and straight after with water so the protein can enter your system before a process called metabolism takes place which will cause you to further lose weight as your body is starved of energy. You should either attend a gym three times a week for at least an hour, or buy yourself some free weights and resistance bands at home.

You should split your workouts into groups of two muscles over the three days per week to target everything to produce the 'aesthetically pleasing' results you want. These work best as follows:

Back + biceps (biceps are worked last, as if you work your back well enough your biceps will feel wrecked by the end)

Chest + triceps (bench press being the CORE exercise you need to gain mass which utilises both chest and triceps and partially shoulders)

Shoulders + bicep/tricep (working your shoulders won't put a great deal of straight onto your bicep or triceps but you can choose to work one of these after your shoulder workout is complete)

Ensure you have at least one days rest between workouts where you consume a large amount of calories and sleep well for maximum muscle gains.

If you want anymore information, i'd be happy to discuss via pm or msn.
