You only need supplements if you can't get your protein or creatine in your food.

If you aren't gaining weight you just need to eat more. Its all about diet.

What KMJT said. I suggest you take protein shakes because it helps you get more protein needed. Now, don't mistake what KMJT says about eating more. Eating more doesn't mean eating chips, ice cream, etc... It means eating a turkey sandwich, peanuts, almonds, yogurt, glass of milk, eggs, etc. All these are protein based foods. You need to unload with the protein in order to gain weight and to gain muscle. When you are lifting, you are destroying your muscles, and you need protein to help them heal. I suggest you eat around 1.3-1.5x your weight in protein. I.E. I am 152lbs and I eat around 180+ grams of protein per day.

Eat a good amount of protein filled foods. Also, grab ON 100% whey protein mix from your local GNC or whatever. Drink it with water after you work out. ( recommend french vanilla for best taste)

Creatine, Whey protein before and after workout, casein protein before you go to bed. Then it's up to you to eat 3000+ calories a day.

Get as much protein from your normal diet, protein shakes can cause kidney problems in the later stages of your life.

You should NOT use creatine. It's water weight. The second you stop using it you will feel weak and like shit.

Don't listen to him. Yes a lot of it is water weight when you are on but when you get off the gains you make on creatine still > gains without using creatine.

People who do this for a living usually take steroids, so they don't really need creatine. You can get creatine from foods like steak. Its just a supplement.. not some mysterious chemical.

You cant just use a stereotype that they take steroids to disregard something. Also I am talking about people who work for gnc

Its not a stereotype. The majority of professional bodybuilders have taken steroids. People who work for GNC don't bodybuild for a living; they sell supplements for a living. Plus, almost everyone that works at GNC or any other supplement store would say creatine is good.

So many people are misinformed about what creatine ACTUALLY does in the body.

Creatine Phosphate is the fuel we use that helps reproduce ATP ( the molecule used for energy) at MAXIMUM intensities, peaking 1-10 seconds, so you're asking yourself, who benefits the most from increased creatine phosphate stores?

100M Sprinters, Weight Lifters, Power Lifters, Bodybuilders

They all use the ATP-PC system, all work at intensities around 90-95% Max HR, and all last for no longer than maximum 15-20 seconds ( depending on the athlete of course).

It is a natural substance found in the body, you don't even need to cycle it, people misinformed make the same mistakes with protein, you're just missing out.

One of the best things to drink after a workout is chocolate milk. Don't get that musclemilk shit or protein shakes, it has mercury in it. Just regular chocolate milk. When you lift or do any workout to build muscle it is not entirely about how hard you push yourself or many reps you do, it's also about your recovery from your workout. Let's say you do a bunch of crunches maybe five sets of twenty for your workout. Guessing from the average person, anyone who does this will likely be sore in the abdominal area this is because doing crunches works your abdominal muscles. When you are doing crunches you are actually tearing your muscles apart and they need protein and carbs to build themselves back up. If you give them protein and carbs right after a workout, your muscles will build themselves back up to be stronger so they can take reps the next time. Really, the short answer is protein shakes are O.K. but they are nothing special. Creatine mentioned above does work to an extent but most likely not how you think it would. Taking Creatine itself doesn't build your body up or give you "bigger" muslces. Impherus has it down already on what Creatine actually does. I take Creatine after football or wrestling practices occasionally. If your thinking now, "why chocolate milk"? Well, it's because it has carbs (chocolate) and protein (milk). Which as stated above or two of the things that well help your muscles recover after a workout.

Eat, workout, sleep, as easy as that. At the start of this year i only weighed 60-62Kg's then i started getting eating a little more and getting into the Gym 3-4 times a week at school and managed to shoot up to 73Kg's in about 3 months. Thats not quick at all but i hardly changed my diet and still gained weight from just working out on a regular basis.

Its weird because my weight seems to go down if i just sit around doing nothing even if im eating a whole bunch of fatty foods at the same time. I think the key is just to maintain a regular exercise routine, diet helps too i guess.
