Format

32-slot, single-elimination bracket with 20 registered participants.
A standard single-elimination bracket works best with a power-of-two number of slots (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.). Since we have 20 participants, 12 slots will be filled with byes to create a standard 32-slot bracket.

How the bracket works

Opening Round: 4 matches involving 8 players. The 4 winners advance.

Round of 16: The 4 opening-round winners join the 12 bye recipients, resulting in 16 players competing in 8 matches.

Quarterfinals: 8 players compete in 4 matches.

Semifinals: 4 players compete in 2 matches.

Championship: The final 2 players compete for the title.

Bye Assignments

The 12 byes are a mathematical necessity for fitting 20 participants into a standard 32-slot bracket.

Bye assignments and matchups are determined by a random draw, not by registration order, reputation, or personal preference. Players receiving a bye automatically advance to the Round of 16.

Match Deadlines
Each round will have a 72-hour (3-day) completion window.

Players must contact their assigned opponent within the first 24 hours.

Players should make a reasonable effort to respond to messages.

If an opponent has not responded within 24 hours, send a follow-up message and notify the organizer.

Players who miss an agreed match time must communicate the delay as soon as reasonably possible. Otherwise, a 15-minute grace period applies before the opponent may report a potential no-show.

One extension of up to 24 hours may be granted for legitimate scheduling conflicts. Requests must be made before the round deadline and are subject to organizer approval.

Players who fail to communicate, repeatedly miss agreed match times, or make no reasonable effort to compete may forfeit their match.

The organizer will review available evidence and both players' efforts before ruling on a forfeit. A forfeit is not automatic; the goal is to reward participation and fair play while keeping the tournament moving.

Once a round's deadline expires, the organizer will resolve outstanding matches and advance the bracket before opening the next round.

No-Shows & Forfeits
Real life happens, and reasonable scheduling conflicts will be considered. However, failing to communicate or repeatedly delaying a match is not an acceptable way to participate.

The following procedure will apply:

Initial contact: Both players should attempt to arrange their match within the first 24 hours.

Unresponsive opponent: If an opponent has not responded within 48 hours, send a follow-up message and notify the organizer.

Deadline approaching: If the match remains unscheduled, notify the organizer before the round deadline and provide evidence of your attempts to make contact.

Missed deadline: If a player fails to appear for an agreed match time, the other player should notify the organizer and provide evidence where available.

Organizer decision: The organizer will review communication, scheduling attempts, and any relevant circumstances before awarding a forfeit or granting a short extension.

A player who makes reasonable efforts to compete will not automatically be penalized because their opponent is unresponsive. Conversely, a player who refuses to communicate, repeatedly misses agreed match times, or fails to make a reasonable effort to compete may forfeit their match.

No-show decisions will be based on documented circumstances, not personal relationships or favoritism.

Reporting Results
After each match, the winner must report the result to the tournament organizer. Screenshots or other reasonable proof may be requested if a result is disputed.
The bracket will be updated as results are confirmed. Players should not assume they have advanced until the result is recorded.
