Staff Feedback

Perhaps rather than being sardonic and accusing users of posting feedback in order to ''spite'' you, you might simply apologise for the rule you broke and move on. No one's expectations are so unreasonable that they expect rules not to be occasionally broken. Having said that, I don't think it's unreasonable for one to expect a staff member to simply apologise and move on.

 

Removing posts irrelevant to staff feedback. This isn't the place to argue about it.

Cosrob, you made a mistake with your thread, you've admitted to it and it has been addressed.

Hahanerd, don't give anybody an excuse to infract you. You made your feedback now lets get along.

And if Govind is a tech admin, not only should that thread be changed but we should have at least two general administrators responsible for community leadership and staff management.

 

Then according to his job description; he did his job, the only person that could judge him for such a job description is staff themselves, or, more specifically, matthew and Sythe.

 

Determinate & FlyingToast - I reported about 10 posts for spam and they cleared it up in less than 10 minutes.

As a note: Richard and Matthew were both very happy with what Govind was doing and thus you can't really say he wasn't doing his "job" as Matthew and Richard thought he was, as did most of the staff team.

 

I disagree. General administrators should be and have traditionally been in charge of leading and connecting with the community as well as the staff. If you look at Finn's recent feedback thread, I'm not the only one who thinks they haven't done the best job at maintaining this connection, and Govind's attitude in that post certainly won't help matters.

I'm sure he was doing a good job. But I'm saying we do need a community involved administrator or two, even if Govind isn't one of them.

 

We don't need one. The place runs fine without one and has plenty in the past. It is very nice to have one however.

 

Finn's thread was closed as to stop this discussion, seeing its already being handled.

Govind is no longer staff, and discussion pertaining to him does not belong here.

Unless you wish to speak directly about another staff member, please keep the discussion of this thread.

As a note, it has never been a general administrators job to be in touch with the community, just something that is nice to see and is respected by the community. Such a thing should not lead to a demotion, and its absolutely vile to think such a thing.

What our administrators do behind the scenes is their job, and it gets done well. If they don't get time to post in the community forums, then that's something which we will have to live with, and I guarantee it won't contribute anything negative toward the well being of this site. The only thing that will contribute anything negative toward the well being of this site is the drama caused by events such as the one that just unfolded, and results in people with important roles resigning and/or thinking of resigning.

No sucking up here, i'll call it like i see it, and at this point from the posts ive reported i think the staff are doing exceptional.

My reported posts are responded to in a very timely manner and i appreciate that the staff does look at them frequently.

It seems the scam reports section may be lacking JUST a little in how promptly those matters get a response but i expect to see an improvement with the recent promotions. Keep it up guys, make this place more enjoyable for us all. +1 to the tenured moderators keeping up.

 

Since we've lost visible leadership the staff and normal members have become disjointed, activity has decreased, and no large/new forum ideas have been executed. Without non-tech admins, no new initiatives will ever happen and the site will stagnate. That's a large, long-term problem.

 

I agree with this statement, if there was a forward "leader" of community activities and affairs (a.k.a a general administrator involved in the community) then it would give the people on sythe more of a reason to stay. I can honestly say that my activity has been decreasing a lot due to the fact that im losing interest. There is nothing to really keep me around anymore besides irc/spam forum. I think that a leader in the community department would highly benefit the site.

Govind IS still on staff. He is temporarily on leave and will be back in his administrative position soon. I'm sure he wouldn't mind receiving feedback, even if he will only look at it when he returns from leave.

I'm not saying it should. I love Govind and respect him. I'm asking him to change his attitude on a certain issue. Don't see anything wrong with that...

I don't quite see how it is wicked to suggest an administrator's demotion for not being in touch with the community... (even tho it isnt a view I agree with)

I guarantee you it will affect the community, as I said above. The only person I can think of who would consider resigning right now is Giverny, and I'm going to be blunt, she should resign (or at least have others promoted to assist her in her role). She's clearly having problems juggling Sythe and IRL and there are plenty of suitable candidates who could fulfill her role.

 

@Every mod: Great fucking job on CLEARING the spam report section. Hasn't been below 10 pages in weeks. Good job guys. +1 to you all.
