It's christmas..It all comes back

About six years ago I ahd a really hard time with my family my mum and her boyfriend had split up after 3 years and he was still living with us. Now, my real father, who I had never met, was never around, but one christmas my mum, her boyfriend and me went to go and get a christmas tree, where i live in quite a small town most people know each other, we was driving through and there was this man in pale blue jeans and a knee-length black leather jacket who stared at me and my mum as we drove past. Later that evening i was playing time crisis 2 on my mums boyfriends playstation one and i heard her crying, her and her boyfriend told me to go back upstairs, being how we are, i stayed and listened. This man was my father, he had been round asking people if they knew where i lived and this is the only memory i have of my father.

A month later my mum and her boyfriend split, after me and my mum had come home from the store, my mum and her now ex-boyfriend (he lived with us until he was arrested) they started to argue as he had been through all her personal stuff, yet again i went to find out what was going on and he turned around and hit her, blood all over her face, i was 10 years old and witnessed this, my mum locked me in the bathroom and rang the police they arrived 10 minutes later and arrested him, he was released the same day after 8 hours of denying it but in the end prooven guilty. 3 months later my dog a black labrador aged 3 had health issues it turned out he had a brain tumor and had to be put down and as an 10 year old kid i was mortified. But this was not it the next day at 2am the police arrive at my grand parents house to announce that the body of my father had been found. He had killed himself.

No wonder I hate christmas, if you have any advice add my MSN: [email protected] or post below. and yes I do remember everything important that has happened in my life, i dont know why but i just DO.

 

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that you have been through so much

It always saddens me to hear of unfortunate people that have been through terrible things around this time of the year, and therefore learn to hate Christmas because they tend to associate the bad events of the past with the holiday. Christmas is supposed to be a happy time, and a time that is about your family, friends, and other loved ones, and being thankful for the things you have and the fact you get to spend time with these people.

I imagine that its hard to focus on these positive things though when your family consists of only you are your mother, and the only other father figure you've had in your life was abusive towards your mother, and a bad role model for you. I hope that this month isn't too hard for you though, and that you can be thankful that you & your mum still have each other and realize thats the only thing that should be important

At least you have your mother to celebrate Christmas with? From what you have written it doesn't sound like your mother is the bad person.

 

Sorry to hear that bro , I would of personally got a knife and stabbed that guy when he hit your mother if I was in your place Tbh because I don't like no1 doing anything to my mum.

Instead of looking at all the negatives, embrace the positives and cherish the fact that you still have the company of your loving mother.

Life is beautiful, and it does get better. Keep a positive outlook and stay optomistic. What's done is done, you can't go back and change anything, so don't dwell on it. Be thankful for what you have and who you have, and take it one day at a time.

 

I couldn't have said it better myself. Your mother loves you and it sounds as if she's done her best to protect you. The world isn't a perfect place, but you can find bits of perfection if you look hard enough. Do your best to be the best you can be.

One day, when you have children of your own, you can make sure that they don't have to see/go through the same things that you did.

Think about the positive things mate, people have been through way worse things than yourself and they get on fine. Obviously it's hard, but you just have to push through and try your best.
