Star Wars fans?

Question for star wars fans, or anyone who may know:

What is the relationships between the Jabba the Hutt and the Imperial Empire?

I have tried google and yahoo, just can't get a straight answer.

I know in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jabba grants the use of his trade routes to the republic, which then becomes the Empire.

Could someone shed light on this topic for me? Thanks.

I haven't read the books, was just a fan of the films, although there are major flaws lol. Just wondered if there is an explanation as to why the empire do not control Jabba's clan.

 

It's been a longggggg time since I've read any Star Wars, but I'm pretty sure that he was cooperative with them in some cases, mainly as a way to avoid getting cracked down on for his massive and highly successful spice smuggling operations.

He definitely wasn't some agent of the Empire though if that's what you are wondering.
